My Story
You may or may not be aware that my mom is working for the Vestibular Disorders Association (VEDA) now. In case you are like me, and didn't know what a vestibular disorder was until my mom took on her new position here is a quick description. Think dizziness, on-going nausea and vomiting, horrible headaches, tinnitus, fatigue, jumping vision, vertigo, etc. There is no “cure” for most vestibular disorders. They may be treated with medication, physical therapy, lifestyle changes (e.g. diet, exercise), surgery, or positional maneuvers. In most cases, patients must adapt to a host of life-altering limitations. 69 million Americans deal with some type of vestibular issue; fortunately I am not one of them. Please help me support VEDA’s programs and services by making a contribution to my Balance Awareness Week personal campaign page. VEDA is the only organization focused on helping people get the resources and help they need when they are dealing with a disorder that even their doctors often don’t recognize. Thank you, BreeAnn
