Hello, thank you all for sharing your experience.
I got my first dose of vaccine (Pfizer) on Mar 14. For the first 2 days, I only had little pain in my arm which got well. But, on 3rd day, when I went to bed at night, I felt dizziness, room spinning, lack of balance and nausea. I was concern what would be the issue. This forum and your experience were very helpful. Now on 6th day, I feel a little better. During the day (when I am in vertical position) I feel better. At night when I go to bed and also in the morning when I get up, I still feel dizziness, but gradually the intensity is decreasing.
Wishing you all health.
Hopefully this helps someone.
49 / M / Moderna Vaccine /no significant health issues prior to vaccine
After 1st dose noticed tinnitus (5 on a scale of 1 to 10) the first night and continuing through today which is day 3. Day 3 woke up with headache and slight dizziness.
Last two days in the morning one hour before eating breakfast I have been taking a cocktail of 1000 mg liquid vitamin C with 2 fluid ounces of apple juice. I take the cocktail in one swallow. Reduced tinnitus only slightly but definitely felt better to the point that I can function.
49 y/o with a history of Vestibular Neuritis. I had my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine on 3/12. Sore arm, headache, nausea, exhaustion and slight dizziness for 36 hours. Over the past week I have had a few moments of dizziness that come and go within 5-10 minutes. Last year I got my vestibular neuritis diagnosis after being laid up a week without being able to walk without grabbing a wall or using a cane. Terrified of getting my second dose after reading responses on this forum. I may try to get tested for antibodies before deciding on the second dose.
I have not gotten my vaccine yet but will soon and it will be the Johnson and Johnson.
I see a lot of people that have never had vertigo before so I’m wondering if anyone has vestibular neuritis already and got the vaccine? I had my inner ear nerve die 6 years ago and that was my full knock me on my butt with nystagmus. I couldn’t drive for 6 months. For a week I was bedridden.
So now I get dizzy when I get a viral infection. So I’m afraid when I get the vaccine it’ll do it but don’t know for how long. I’m a mom of three work full time and our hone business.
anyone out there got the vaccine but also have vestibular neuritis?
Hi,
I’m a 72 year old male and healthy as a horse
I received my second moderna vaccine and a week to the day after I awoke with extreme dizziness. I couldn’t sit up in bed without literally crashing back into my pillow. I have never experienced anything like this. I called for my housemate to steady me while I walked to the bathroom to throw up.
After intense vomiting I crawled back to bed in hopes of sleeping it off but woke up feeling the same gravity defying dizziness. This scared me so I told my housemate to call 911 and was rushed to the hospital throwing up the whole way an into the ER.
They ran a full battery of tests which all check out and the final diagnosis: vertigo.
The anti-dizziness meds got me to where I could go home. It’s 4 days later and the nausea hasn’t come back but I’m still very lightheaded with sudden jolts of dizziness.
I just spoke with a friend who experienced the same symptoms after the Moderna vaccine and have just read these posts on here too.
Hopefully these vertigo symptoms will abate.
I posted on the third or fourth page and several updates since. Got dizzy 2 days after my first vaccine and I was finally back to normal the day before my second. Now it's the day after my second vax and the dizziness is returning. I feel nauseated, too which I didn't really last time. We'll see what happens, I guess. Hopefully, it'll be gone in three weeks again. Actually, hopefully, it'll be far less than three weeks. I've come to guess that it's vestibular migraine, which I've had symptoms of before. Something about the vaccine triggers the migraines and restarts the whole process. I'm glad I'm not currently working. Blegh. Good luck, everyone!
@alina123 Mine went away after 2 1/2 weeks and is now coming back a day after the second vax.
@itsjustme I had the exact same situation - but with the J&J vaccine! Its been 8 days since I got it and still incredibly dizzy. I had vestibular migraines before as well, but they had been gone for awhile because I had been going to the chiropractor. I definitely think that's what this is - the vaccine causing inflammation in my ears and triggering the vestibular migraines to return.
@jrlopez The Eply maneuver works when vertigo is the result of natural calcium crystals being out of place in you inner ear. They somehow have moved into the semicircular canals ind interfere with balance and the Eply maneuver moves them back to where they belong and vertigo goes away immediately. As far as I know this condition has nothing to do with the vaccine and it just happened to correlate. The vertigo most of us are experiencing was caused by an inflammatory response to the vaccine and we do not have misplaced crystals in our inner ear and so the Eply maneuver has not worked. You are lucky that you had the crystals and your issue could be resolved. I am happy for you.
Hi Shauna, I have a history of vertigo with nystagmus and a semicircular canal dhesience (small hole in my right semicircular ear canal). Had my fist Pfizer shot 3/12 and four days out started to have vertigo, tinnitus and nausea in varying degrees from manageable to debilitating. It’s now a week out and it continues. Worse in the left ear. Very frustrating and really concerned about the second shot.
Hi,
My vertigo hit me last Wednesday (a week to the day after my 2nd Moderna shot) Ended up in the ER by ambulance, vomiting the whole way. The meds got me to the point where I could go home. Been taking it easy. Haven’t vomited since coming hone but the dizziness is still present in varying degrees. It’s Saturday afternoon now and am starting to feel closer to normal and just slightly lightheaded.
I contacted the ER and told them about what I’ve read on this site about the delayed vertigo reactions as they dismissed the vaccine as the culprit because it had been a week since my last shot.
I also contacted the CDC about this. It’s important we all share what we’re experiencing as we are the early adapters of this miracle drug.
good luck and hope you feel better soon!
Thank you for shedding some light at the end of the tunnel for the first, and hope that dizziness resolves you’re feeling better soon from the second shot.
@jennifermielke 2 weeks to the day after my first moderna shot I was struck by a wave of dizziness, it was followed by a persistent not quite dizzy but more like head in the clouds feeling . That night my heart was racing and my blood pressure up. Over the next couple weeks the feeling came and went and I had a couple other incidents of racing heart. Then it went away for a week but came back last weekend. I've been fine the last few days again. I've been taking vitamin C and not sure if this helps but limiting sugar and caffeine. I was never sick except some slight chills. It's been 4 weeks since first onset - hoping it's over.
@jwblue I quit taking my vitamin c 2 weeks after my first shot.. 2 days later the headaches came back .. full throttle.. So. Vitamin c seems to be a key factor for me as well. Second shot coming up soon.. also I've had problems in my left ear.. This is not fun ...
My second shot is in four days. I’m not looking forward to it. The severe vertigo ended a few days ago. The tinnitus is still hideous. That’s in both ears. My left ear is the one that is messed up. I see many others say left ear. Does anyone know why?
Please respond if it was your left ear and if a doctor explained.
