@ddsh hi sorry to hear about your husband. I had the first Pfizer dose 3/22. Within two days I started having low blood pressure symptoms and then horrible vertigo. I was hospitalized for 7 days; every imaginable test and nothing came back abnormal thankfully. However I am still having vertigo; fuzzy brain and feeling unbalanced. I saw my ENT and she started me on a steroid pack indicating the vaccine caused inflammation to my vestibular nerve. I’m on day 4 , slight improvement and do not know when this will end. I’m unable to work and pretty much laying in bed due to symptoms and probably some depression from this three week nightmare. I hope we all get better and the figure out why some are responding this way. Prayers for all
Hello everyone!
I just got back from my ENT appointment regarding dizziness and the vaccine. The Dr believes it is very unlikely that the dizziness is a result of the vaccine since my dizziness went on for two weeks, stopped for a week, then returned. He said that leads him to believe it is caused by something else. However, he did not completely rule out the vaccine since it is fairly new. He said he can determine the cause by conducting various tests on me within the next couple of weeks.
I think I am going to continue through with my second dose of Pfizer next week. I am worried, but just a couple days ago THREE distant family friends all died from COVID. One was only 30 years old and was actually pretty fine and recovering, but the virus caused a blood clot that he was unaware of, his oxygen levels dropped rapidly, and he soon passed away.
I hope we can all recover soon and go back to normal. Wishing you all the very best and I will continue to update after my second dose!
@frank i had the pfizer also with similar side effects. How are you doing now please?
@sandram has this improved? Having dizziness after my first shot now for almost a week and would be relieved to hear this eventually clears up?
thank you
Hey all!
Ive been religiously reading everyone’s stories. I got my 1st Moderna shot on 4/23 and on 4/27 was the day hell started. Pretty similar to everyone else. Feeling unbalanced and constant need to faint, nausea (took zofran), headaches, ear aches/fullness. I went to urgent care, ENT, cardiologist, and PCP. My PCP has been pretty supportive and feels that it was a side effect to the vaccine. She and my ENT believe it is inflammation of the inner ear nerve (vestibular neuritis). I wanted to share some hope and also some other symptoms that I don’t feel I’ve read about in the blog. I started taking the vitamin C (500mg 2x day) and while I do think it helped propel me to feeling better sooner I don’t think it’s a long term solution. I also took ibuprofen 1x a day when the headaches and ear aches were unbearable. Yesterday was the end of week 2 and I’m probably 90% better but it wasn’t a gradual climb. It was bad days mixed with good days and then the bad were less bad until it was all tolerable and I was able to function in society. I hope in 1 more week I will be fully back to normal but we will see.
Some other things I’ve experienced that I haven’t heard much about is jaw pain. My PCP said when your ear is inflamed it affects all of the muscles around it so she told me not to chew hard/tough foods. I’ve had some unbearable meals where I pushed the chewing and I felt my whole jaw, ear, and head just explode in pain. The other symptom I am having is Panic Attacks. I’ve never had them before but I will get one after having caffeine or just randomly. I’m super curious to know if others are experiencing hypersensitive reactions to anxiety or panic attacks. It’s possible too much vitamin c could be causing it (which is why it might not be good for a long time) but I really don’t know and it’s definitely a post vaccine reaction. I really miss my coffee! Let me know!
Hi all, it looks like my dizziness and loopy sensation is gone. It lasted about a week for me after 15 days post pfizer #2 shot. I did not have problems with the first shot other than fatigue and sore arm. Regardless, I reported to CDC and pfizer sites.
I am hoping this is temporary for all of you.
@laurens. I am wondering if you already have a nystagmus condition whether you should get the COVID vaccine?
I had Moderna vaccines in late February. I began having episodes of vertigo about 5 weeks ago, so I looked this up as a possible side effect. I see several have experienced this. Has it gone away for any of you?
Please post progress
Thanks for posting this. I had a similar experience with annual flu shot about 5-6 years ago that lasted about six months. Vertigo began 12-24 hours after receiving vaccine. I did not have any prior issues with vertigo nor did I do anything differently that day other than get the flu vaccine. I do not believe in that level of coincidence. I have not had a Covid vaccine yet (or any vaccine since that flu shot) because of concern that the vertigo may return.
I hope you improve soon.
@thenystagmus @tabby they gave me that drug in the ER via IV when my pcp sent me due to the dizziness and migraine persisting for 8 days (back in Feb). I had such a horrible reaction to it - it made me SO anxious. I almost immediately felt the need to rip the IV out and leave the hospital (but at that time I had no idea why I felt that way, the IV had included touridal, Benadryl, that drug, and magnesium). But then when I got home I couldn’t stop pacing. I kept panicking and thinking I couldn’t breathe even though I could. I couldn’t sleep that night. It was so bizarre and I was in such an anxious state for 24 hours.
I mentioned it to my friend who is an ER doctor who said that was a pretty common reaction, and also mentioned the schizophrenia thing. If you decide to try it, keep an eye out for that effect.
@rraymo1123 this didn’t happen until after my second shot, so I didn’t have to make the decision.
My dad ran a covid unit last spring, so he saw a lot of horrible things. He thinks that while the dizziness is unfortunate, the potential of a bad outcome from covid is a lot worse.
But it’s a highly personal decision, and also depends on your health/age/factors. I’m very fit (I’ve been a runner for 23 years), but I’m 36 with two young kids. I would rather suffer through this dizziness but ensure I am well-protected against covid to be here for them. If I were a decade younger and didn’t have kids, and had this reaction after the first shot, I might have skipped the second.
My sister, 55 yo, had the Moderna vaccine (#1) last month and came down with extreme vertigo that has persisted for over 4 weeks. Has your vertigo improved yet? Any effective treatments you've found?
