Hello Forum,
After an partly failed otosclerosis operation, I suffer from chronic unilateral vestibular loss age of war
Six months later, I still feel symptoms, mainly in the dark and on uneven ground. I have done a lot of exercises but can`t get rid of the remaining symptoms. Is there a chance to fully compensate. Does anybody have experience with unilateral vestibular loss and fully compensate? Thank you for your answers. Many individuals with unilateral vestibular loss report substantial improvements and can adapt to their condition, achieving a level of compensation that allows them to lead normal lives. While the journey to full compensation can be challenging and varies greatly among individuals, many find hope and improvement through dedicated rehabilitation and support. If you haven't already, consider reaching out to a healthcare professional specializing in vestibular disorders for personalized guidance.

ok thanks
@annaeat Yes, stick with it, you can reach a new normal. Back in 2021 I was finally diagnosed with unilateral vestibular loss. I suffered like many people with no diagnosis but, I found my way to VeDA and they found me support in TN. It took many months of rehabilitation both in a clinic and at home but, finally I was basically 99% back, a new normal. I would say it took about one year with set backs. Although, after a couple of years of being basically back to normal, I tweaked my neck playing golf and it came back two weeks ago. I went right back to doing the work at home, exercises, and I’m almost symptom free, again. I used a massage therapist to fix my neck and I’ll be back to golf this Saturday. My whole story is similar to Mark Cuban without the billions, as a point of reference.
I find doing the gaze exercises, standing on a foam pad with exercises and playing paddlesports helps my brain adjust. That works for me. You may need to search for different exercises to get the right balance. Don’t lose hope, stress will aggravate and/or delay your new balanced life. I still have the darkness challenge so, I just put motion lights around the home. Good luck, I hope this answer helps.
