I have been following this thread for the last month or so and not sure what to do. I am a fairly healthy male under 40 with an history of vestibular neuritis/bells palsy (to me it was more like ramsey hunt) that was very hard to overcome a few years ago (and finally I am back to 99% normal). I dont know whether I should take the risk with these vaccines. Reading these comments here makes me very concerned for 2 main reasons:
Â
1) There are neurological side effects that to me are far more concerning than flu like side effects
and more importantly 2) None of these side effects are being recognized in mainstream media, to the point the story the media tells vs what I read in forums such as these (and others) are quite far apart.
@chels8957ME! I have had that feeling with all three of my vertigo/dizziness spells.Â
I'm so glad I found this because none of the people I know have gotten any symptoms from the Pfizer vaccine, except the typical flu-like symptoms you get after the second dose.
I have not had any symptoms aside from my vertigo spells. I'm 36 and I've only had vertigo twice in my life. I do have allergies, currently suffering from them, and I do have motion sickness problems.Â
I had my first Pfizer shot back on April 15th, didn't really feel much of anything and was fine all day. Friday morning I had a migraine, but I suffer from those so I figured it was just the vaccine affecting me and it went away. In the middle of the night on Saturday, I turned on my left side and the vertigo started. It lasted for a couple of hours and then went away after I napped. Then I got another mini spell on Saturday night, and was feeling a bit off and lightheaded on Sunday morning, but that feeling disappeared. I was perfectly fine the following two days and then got a really bad vertigo spell on Wednesday 21st. This one lasted for a day and a half and then it gradually went away. Still a lingering feeling of tiredness/drowsiness until Monday afternoon.Â
Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, I was fine until last night, when I started to feel a weird dull off-balance feeling. Was a bit queasy throughout the night then got a mini vertigo spell in the middle of the night that went away pretty quickly, and have been kind of lightheaded since. Just an odd feeling, not exactly dizzy. It has been raining here so I have felt pressure in my sinus, ears and head as well.Â
An interesting thing about my spells is that they happen when I turn left or got worse when I moved left. My left ear also feels like it's "unpopped", when it happens, which leads me to believe it's probably some sort of inflammatory response. I am taking Benadryl, Dramamine, Vit-C and Ibuprophen, and it seems to help. I am re-considering taking the second one, tbh.Â
It has been 6 weeks since my first moderna vaccine. The first 3 days after, my arm was so sore I couldn’t even lift it. About 1-1/2 weeks later, I began having horrible headaches, neck pain and vertigo. I have never had vertigo before and thought I was going crazy. I went to urgent care, not knowing it could be related to the vaccine. He prescribed me medication that just made me more dizzy. I decided not to get the 2nd shot 4 weeks later, my headaches and neck pain are somewhat better but the vertigo is still there when I go to bed and get up. I finally went to a neurologist, doing some tests but I think he is convinced it was the vaccine. Praying for everyone we get some relief.

@mommad Try iburophen, take 4. See if it helps. If its inflammation, ibuprophen should help with vertigoÂ

Checking in with some early posters for an update... How are symptoms currently? Is anyone fully back to normal? Anything that seemed to help or work? (Vit C, Turmeric, Ginger, fish oil, Antihistamines (Benadryl, Zyrtec), Nasacort nose spray (corticosteroid)
Two weeks after 2nd Moderna dose. Have intermittent (floaty, dizzy spells, and brain fog)
From what I have seen anything that reduces inflammation can help the symptoms. Seems to be an overreaction of the immune system and inflammation of the inner ear. The initial inflammation is likely a good thing creating antibodies, but the prolonged response seems to cause a lot of these symptoms (similar to the long haul covid patients)
@yoki I think Medrol dose pack is too little dose and very short burst of steroids for what would be an autoimmunine neuritis. A more appropriate dose would be Prednisone 80 or 60 mg with a long taper (actually in the more acute phase, an even higher dose could be even more helpful). Truthfully, at 3 months there may only be minor lingering inflammation so Medrol may be all that is needed. Vestibular rehab is your best bet at this time frame. Good luck! I hope you feel better soon!

Thank you for sharing this article. I have had dizziness since the first Pfizer shot. Also, visited E.R. Saturday with stomach pain. CT showed very swollen small intestine. Nothing else is wrong so wondering if..... I won't be getting the second shot and I'm a fearful believer in COVID.Â
@gatordoc thanks very much for the explanation. I hope you're doing better as well. At three months, the side effects have diminished quite a bit with a few bad days here and there. I'm looking forward to the vestibular rehab, sort of, since I'm with a PT that I've worked with before and really like.
I lost 30% of my balance nerve in my right ear due to a virus in 2014 and had to go to vestibular physical therapy to learn how to walk and navigate my new unbalanced body. I got the vaccine in February, first dose Pfizer, second dose in May. Yesterday I had full blown vestibular issues as if I was reliving 2014 all over again, still have it today.. Now I'm wondering if the vaccine has something to do with it. 🤔🤔
New update on my status. My PCP has refused to offer me a referral to an ENT, cardiologist, or a neurologist. He has me on Alegra and Musinex because he thinks it is allergy related. He wants me to wait two weeks before doing anything. The OTK drugs are not really doing anything. Yesterday I had some minor tingling in my feet and it has seemed to improve today. It is so frustrating to not get anyone to listen to me about my dizziness and other symptoms.Â
Hi All,
I am new to this forum. I got my 1st shot on April 23. From day 2 onwards itself i had minor dizziness. I thought its getting better until yesterday, when dizziness seems to have increased a bit. I feel a strong sense of tightness in the back of my neck and back of my head. I feel the diziness is felt when i tilt my head downward or sideways. Is someone else having this issue as well ? My doc said it could be some inflammation but is not well understood. never had this feeling before.Â
