Hello all,

I have been diagnosed with Vestibular Migraine and have been stable without an episode for over two years. The last episode lasted months- I would not remember what I would say, reading became extremely difficult. I had to withdraw from school and if it wasn’t because it happened over the summer, I know I would have faced consequences at work. Needless to say I am terrified of another onset. I am a high school teacher and want to take the vaccine. I am scheduled to take the vaccine for COVID in a week and listening to co-workers and reading your side effects are of concern to me. What do you recommend I do?

@rries Thank you so much for sharing. I thought it was only me. Been dizzy for 2 weeks after shot. More during the day, less at night. Heading to the Doctor Friday. Thanks again.

@hull-jeangmail-com Thank you. I thought I was alone. Family member told me it was a placebo effect. Dizzy for 2 1/2 weeks. I see now other people are feeling it too.

One week post the second Moderna shot and vertigo is the new side effect.  Initially, I had the regular reactions headache, stiff neck, joint pain, chills.  The had the less common side effects, like swollen lymph node (like I had the mumps - ouch!).  Was planning on going back to work this morning.  When I tried to get out of bed I fell back flat, room was spinning.  After several attempts I managed to stagger like a drunk to the computer to arrange for class coverage (I teach high school).  It wasn't easy,  I found I couldn't think a straight thought and kept getting confused about the day, classes, and lessons I was trying to write about.

Got 2nd shot yesterday.  A little tired but so much easier than 1st shot so far.  Took 2 Tylenol yesterday.  Still a little bit of dizziness when I rapidly turn my head but not debilitating or bad enough to take the medicine prescribed by Dr’s.

66 yr male, history of vertigo since teenage, migraine (lima beans my main trigger) episodes years apart, and asthma-type reaction to cornstarch powder and horse stables. First Pfizer shot was on March 2, only mild soreness after. March 9, I awoke dizzy, took Meclizine, also difficulty breathing, took Albuterol, slept all day/night. March 10 and 11 were much the same. Low appetite with only slight nausea. Now March 12 dizziness is mild but not mild enough to feel safe drive. Typing this message is difficult. I am not feeling migraine symptoms. Hope y'all are feeling better soon.

I found this interesting.

When googling covid vaccine side effects I found this:

The most common side effects were headache (22.4%), fatigue (16.5%) and dizziness (16.5%), according to the CDC.

When I contacted Pfizer to report my vertigo they told me that vertigo and dizziness were not even on their list of side effects. Makes you wonder how together their organization is.

A follow up--3 weeks after my vaccine, when I thought I was almost back to normal, I fell to the floor yesterday, no warning, nothing. Since then my symptoms are much worse. I can't move without significant nausea --Dr wants MRI but insurance is balking. I feel awful 🙁

I have been regularly checking the UK Government site which displays a log of vaccine side effects as reported by the "yellow card" system. If I might be permitted to quote the URL, it is https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-vaccine-adverse-reactions

It can be seen that the Pfizer document, which at the moment has a "data lock date" of 8th March, does have entries for vertigo (258 entries) and dizziness (2534 entries).

Obviously one must bear in mind that these are reports which would have to be investigated and are not conclusively linked to the vaccine.

@jongThanks for the info! Maybe the person I spoke to did not know how to navigate their system.

Hello I had my first Pfizer vaccine 1/26 with usual tiredness and sore arm.  However the second vaccine was definitely different. First day was the start of sore arm and usual tiredness.  However the second morning when I woke up to get out of bed I sat up and the wall and shades were moving.  It was in technicolor.  It was not full on vertigo as I could still see the wall and shades but they continued to move.  I freaked. Sat a while and it stopped. But when I went downstairs I felt like I was rocking after having been on a house boat for a week. I went to cardiologist and all fine. She did say one other patient had a visual disturbance that scared her so much she won’t get second shot.  About 10 days later I was walking out of a room when I felt like I was going to faint. I grabbed the wall to stay upright. Lasted maybe a minute.  Went to Dr. all fine. Went to ENT and she set me up for a VNT test.  I have had vertigo in the past.  I experienced it quite a bit after being hit while cycling (2016) by distracted driver. 3 brain injuries and palsied 4th cranial nerve which resulted in double vision for 14 months.  Eye surgery corrected this to 98% perfect.  From this I have underlying issues with dizzy feeling when laying on floor to stretch or when sitting up.  This new issue is way different as I feel rocky when I walk but I still walk hoping it will go away. I feel better in a weird way that others have experience similar side effects.  Interested to see the results if my VNT test.

@michaelkThat is interesting. Don't really know what to say about that.
