Hi dragon lover, I can hardly believe they use the "herd immunity" metaphor.
The attitude of denial and ignoring silence about this reporting of adverse Covid vaccine effects (many different kinds) is incredible. For example, the response of the CDC to all those J&J problems at the vaccination centers in multiple states. If you read what they put out on their website, it's unbelievable ...calling all of them anxiety reactions. They decided none of them were anaphylactic reactions, even though some of them resulted in epinephrine injections and trips to hospitals.
Their attitude reminds me of a line from an old cowboy ballad, sang to the cattle they were driving along: "Yippee ti yi yo, git along, little doggies - it's your misfortune, and none of mine own"Β Just very sad.
Β
The "herd immunity" metaphor is appropriate, considering that too many people are just blindly accepting what they are being told and going along with it without question.Β Kind of like the lemmings which blindly follow one another off the cliff. The denial and ignoring of the adverse reactions is unconscionable.Β As long as they meet their quota, they couldn't careΒ less who is injured, suffers, or dies.Β And at this point, no one even knows what kind of long-term consequences there may be--even for those who had no immediate bad reaction.Β And now they will even be using children to meet their quota.Β If adults want to take their chances, they can choose and consent.Β It's so wrong on every level to force this on children who cannot make their own choices and cannot consent.
I'm really glad to have this forum where I can express my thoughts without being attacked.Β I keep quiet everywhere else.Β Tired of being namecalled, lectured, berated and bullied.Β
I got the second shot of Moderna.
First shot 4/7 - did absolutely nothing to "prepare".Β Had a sore arm (arm was more sore the first time then the second).Β About four days later the vertigo began.Β (I've had vertigo previously but never quite this bad.). Was hard to even get anything out of the fridge, work, the worst was switching sides laying down in bed).Β Ended up sleeping sitting up on the couch. Just when I thought it was getting better, the spinning would resume.Β I also had elevated heart rate.Β The vertigo lasted approximately 4 days.Β Β
Second shot 5/7 - I anxiously read pages and pages on this board debating if I should go for the second or not.Β Ultimately decided to do it because my Mom is a lung cancer survivor, my friend's Dad passed after his year long battle from the Covid storm that destroyed him (marathon runner in great physical shape), and my grandmother who now lives in hospice due to getting covid and never being able to regain her strength.
Determined to be "prepared this time".Β I had water bottles lined up so I'd be hydrated, I had Powerade powder so I'd have my electrolytes, I took my daily vitamin C and D.Β I chugged water all day.Β I took Tylenol an hour before our appointment.Β 6:30 p.m. came around and I drove my husband and I to our shot location.Β I thought driving would help me be distracted (it didn't).Β We arrive and my anxiety was through the roof.Β The pharmacist insisted I use the same arm.Β Shot done.Β (That was easy.)
Finally home, my arm starts getting sore quickly and I start to feel sleepy.Β I take Tylenol again after six hours and go to bed.Β The next day, I wake up feeling good, just tired.Β Have breakfast and think "wow I'm in the clear".Β Eyelids then proceed to get heavier, super tiredness starts kicking in out of nowhere.Β I need a nap.Β Even though I pretty much just woke up.Β Just so tired.Β I lie down.Β I'm wiped.Β For hours i'm drained.Β Ears and head start feeling congested.Β I take a saline spray and that seems to help.Β I try to move around but I just can't.Β The chills start.Β I try and sit out in the blazing sun but it doesn't help.Β I'm just freezing.Β Blankets don't help.Β Absolutely exhausted and so cold.Β No fever according to thermometer.Β Sleep comes in and out.Β Try drinking green tea, helps with chills.Β They last a couple hours.Β Just continue to rest.Β Wake up in the middle of the night in a pool of sweat.Β Next day, still tired but my only symptom pretty much.Β Two days later (today) woke up again in sweat.Β No vertigo yet.Β Will update if anything further.
It is very rudimentary.Β I have taken the recovery times for those who have listed the amount of time from when they first showed symptoms to a full recovery.Β I've been averaging the amount of time.
Hi Teresa, That's a lot of info to keep track of! Some of us are a ways past that average recovery time, to where some other information could also be of interest. Would you consider letting us know the number of people you tally that have shared they've fully recovered? And also the lengthiest time a person reported for getting there?Β Β Thanks, Sassafras
@thenystagmus Wow, having to deal with insurance stuff on top of the stress of all of this is tough, but Iβm glad that it may have worked out for the best.Β
I am intrigued by the sinus pressure you mentioned. My GI issues and dizziness returned with a vengeance today as well as a new symptom of sinus and head pressure. I have never experienced sinus pressure before.Β
Well, actually the insurance adventure is a bit of a diversion ...not the most welcome one, but a diversion nonetheless 😏 My agent insists he wants to take me out to lunch when it's over as a compensation for all the trouble. 😊
I didn't have these sinus symptoms at the beginning of this journey, but developed them after a time - so that's similar to your experience. You've managed to find valuable information I've not read, so I'm sure you're probably aware that Covid infection, especially for long haulers, has symptoms that come in waves and also morphs into new symptoms that cause it to have changing presentations as time goes on. So, if this Covid vaccine reaction is similar, both possibly autoimmune reactions, it's not surprising to me to see additional symptoms as time goes on. A lot of autoimmune diseases also have progressive stages, although in this case I hope it's a temporary condition and these are phases on the way to a more healthy equilibrium and recovery being attained by our bodies.
At one point in the past I did get a lot of URIs, especially the first year I went back to working with elementary age kids, and I got secondary bacterial sinus infections, but I don't think I've had one for 6 years. But this is different. Not preceded by a cold, no congestion, just a feeling that my sinus spaces have gotten diminished by swelling of tissues, caring pressure to where I have sinus headache like the passages were clogged by products of infection, but they're not - I don't think they are infected, although some of it it similar. It sometimes feels like pressure is squeezing past an obstructed area, a burning sensation and I feel a little pop, kind of like when your ear pops. So, I've never had this before. It gives me more of an ongoing nauseated headache and dull pain under my cheekbones, temples, forehead and eyes, in addition to being nauseated when waves of disequilibrium come rollicking through me. I'd slacked off on taking ibuprofen but tried some this afternoon again for my headache. I got to feeling a bit better but now it's worn off and the pain is building again, so maybe it helped? Time to experiment will tell...
I'm sorry you're having a new wave of your symptoms, along with this new stuff. Hey, we just need surfboards for all these waves! 🏄Β Haha! 😂 Seriously, I wish you graceful navigation of yet this... - Sassafras
I had my first covid Pfyzer vaccine on April 22nd. After 3 minutes I got extremely dizzy, my vision got blurry and I couldnβt hear well. This lasted for about 3 minutes. The facility I took the vaccine called for ambulance but by the time they came I was getting back to normal. They took my pressure, oxygen level, sugar level and hat was fine. I decided that I wonβt go to ER. Once I got home after about 2 hrs I experienced numbness and tingling in my fingers. The numbness went away the next day , but I could still feel little tingling for a couple of days. My family doctor did not give me a clear answer whether or not it was an allergic reaction and whether or not I should take a 2 nd shot. Iβm high risk living with Chronic bronchitis but I never in my life took a flu shot and I was never sick with flu. I made a decision not to take a second shot if a doctor canβt give me a clear answer. She suggested to call CDC and CDC read to me exactly what it says on their website. Thatβs not an answer for me. Anyone experienced similar issue ?

@thenystagmus I've been taking Flonase for a few days now and it helps a bit with the headaches. I've also started azelastine which is a nasal spray antihistamine which can be used along with the Flonase. I've also started taking a low dose of thiazide diuretics for 2 weeks.Β

Thanks for your info! Some questions I have... What symptoms did you have that were related to each of these choices? Were they prescribed for you, and if so, by what kind of medical provider? Are they OTC medicines (in what country) or prescriptions? Are you experiencing any relief from these and, if so, which ones do you feel are helping with which symptoms? Thanks again!
Yes you are right. Β Unfortunately the medical field is no longer made up of a majority of practioniers who hold their patients first. Most seem to be more motivated by as my mother would say βthe all mighty dollarβ or as our generation says βfollow the money trailβ. So sad.Β

@yokiΒ Β Hmmm... I've always had orthostatic hypotension, diagnosed for decades. Resting bp 90/60, borderline regular hypotension, so you can imagine what happens when it drops out from there. I don't pass out, but I see stars or blackness if I get up fast. So, diuretic would not be for me.
Lemmings don't actually spontaneously jump off cliffs. That was a myth started by Disney's 1958 nature documentary "White Wilderness", during which the filmmakers tossed live lemmings off a cliff from just out of frame. The irony of your sentiment is that you cited verifiably (and famously) false information in order to lament over your personal belief that people in general are uninformed & just "blindly accepting what they are told."
I originally came here to discuss Covid-19 & the vaccine but I'm pretty disgusted by what I'm reading here. There are mountains of published research papers that are 100% free to read & you people are bitching about a "lack of transparency"? That is NOT the problem here.
Covid-19, wherever it originated from, (don't trust the CCP,) is a "new" virus that is still largely a mystery & it is a PROVEN killer. New side effects & permanent complications are being discovered in connection to the Covid-19 infections all the damn time.
The mRNA technology has ~30 YEARS of dedicated research behind it. If you Google mRNA right now, you'll find articles dating back to 2018, 2015, 2012, even DECADES before the pandemic. It's been in the news many times since the 1990s, you either don't want to acknowledge it or you literally never looked it up.
As a courtesy, here's a scientific paper about mRNA from OCTOBER 2019--
https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1748013219301483
And here is one from 2012 referring specifically to the potential for vaccine application--

One thing you need to accept is that science is always changing because research is always ongoing. You should WANT it to keep updating, so you know what the latest facts are. This does not discredit scientific institutions--it is to the CREDIT of our scientific institutions that research & testing are CONSTANTLY being performed.
This is how it's always been done. Every single piece of technology that we currently benefit from was developed with the same scientific methodology of constantly updating research.
Lemmings don't jump off cliffs.
Update: 2 months since 2nd shot. Noticeable shift for the better the last week. Fatigue is gone and my stamina is returning to normal. Eyes are working hard to compensate for my vestibular system being weakened so my vision feels strained but no dizziness or nausea anymore. Legs sometimes feel funky(weakish) but thatβs normal when the vestibular system is not aligned. I continue to stay physically active (best therapy), I see my vestibular therapist and make accommodations so I donβt aggravate symptoms. I survived a 3 hour round trip car trip (as a passenger) on Motherβs Day w/o motion sickness. I even managed a Costco shopping trip on a busy Saturday afternoon by myself. My body is healing with time. To others: Try to stay positive, practice healthy self care and push through. I hope this thread can continue to be helpful to others like it has been for me and that it avoids conspiracy and policy debates.Β
When I was considering getting my second Pfizer vaccine I did not see a lot of posts regarding how bad it was if one had a terrible experience after the first shot! A quick review (I already posted this).....9 days after the first shot I experienced terrible vertigo, vomiting, and tachycardia. After a full 4 weeks I was 90% back to normal and so got my second shot.
Β
Day 6 after the 2nd vaccine I felt a bit βoffβ.....mostly exhausted. Day 7 I had one hour of very slight vertigo. And that was it! It was so much easier than I had anticipated!Β
I am now symptom free.

Overall symptoms include headaches, dizziness and tinnitus. The Flonase seems to help with the headaches which were pressure headaches. I think the headaches were causing some of my dizziness. In the States, you can get generic Flonase. I bought a 6 pack from Costco when it was on sale (about $15). I saw my physician a few days ago and I was telling him how I thought the Flonase was helping a bit. He then suggested the azelastine (which requires a prescription). The diuretics were for trying to tame the tinnitus. He mentioned he learned this trick from one of his clinical instructors. I was also talking to my brother who's a physician in Canada and he also mentioned using the Flonase to help with the pressure headaches. He also mentioned that he would sometimes include an antihistamine along with it.
@mm824 I got my first shot at 3:00 on 4/15, I felt okay for the rest of the day, a little tired & loopy, but nothing major. That night I woke up out of a peaceful sleep a little after 2 am with a racing heart (140 bpm). The next day I was so dizzy I couldn't walk, I was nauseous, couldn't even drink water, a fever of 103. It took about 3 days to start feeling remotely normal again, and my doctor was worried because I was drinking a lot and not outputting enough. I haven't gotten (and am not getting) the second shot, per my PCP, and I still have bouts of dizziness and nausea almost a month later.
How do I post? I am new to this forum. I had second Pfizer vaccine on March 17. For several weeks I have been experiencing sore throat and headaches. Thought I was experiencing side effects from allergies. Started experiencing vertigo on May 4. Still have it.
