Same as others have said.

2 weeks now since my Astra Zenica and I am having constant waves of dizzyness and balance problems, tight and light headedness.

Feels awful, been to A&E twice and had blood tests which were all fine.

Seeing GP soon but she is useless.

We have been poisoned and we should be getting compensation as this is ruining our lives.

@sandram have had the exact same thing! It’s almost like I’m bobbing up and down... ever so slightly but noticeable! Dramamine does nothing for me either. Very strange

@sarahl I have been feeling on and off for about 4 weeks. Had some mild dizziness up until last week, and while I have not had constant ear pressure, it did show up whenever I had these dizzy spells. I would say I've been feeling 80% up until the end of last week (4 weeks since first shot), and this week I am about 98% good with a random odd feeling here and there that is very mild and not disruptive of my normal routine.  Last night was the first night in which I felt comfortable lying down fully, and turning on my left side to sleep, and was able to sleep just fine.  I felt a tiny little bit of dizziness when I first turned left, but it went away very quickly and I blame that on the fact that I've only been lying on one side for about a month.

I know it's annoying and it sucks, but give it some time.  What other things have you tried aside from steroids?

@helpimdizzy  Your symptoms are exactly like mine.  I've posted this before but to make it short:  1st vertigo spell 1.5 days after vaccine, lasted like 4 hours. Nausea, chills, low blood pressure. Then I felt fine but off the next couple of days and like normal for another two days. Had my worst spell a week after the shot and lasted 1.5 days.  I recovered but felt lightheaded, woozy, dizzy, and really tired and off for a few days. I could function, go to work but it was still uncomfortable.  Throughout this, I have felt pressure in my head, neck pain and some pressure in my left ear, the kind you feel when a plane is descending. I suffer from headaches normally, but, oddly enough no headaches due to the shot except a mild migraine the day after (but I always get migraines anyway, especially when stressed out or nervous).

In addition, I've also had the same problems you have when sleeping.  I felt like I was "falling", kind of like a mild rollercoaster feeling, or like I'm being pulled, and it kept me awake and makes me anxious, so I couldn't sleep well, and my heart rate also spiked because of this which made everything even worse.

For this last part, I did the following: I bought this really nice long heating pad that is infused with lavender.  I warmed it up and put in on top of my chest and belly to feel that weight.  In bed, I propped my pillows up and slept on the side that didn't give me trouble during my vertigo spells (the right side) or I slept fully on my back, but propped up (almost sitting up). I also surround myself with pillows, so that I feel support when I have those "falling" feelings and my brain doesn't go into anxiety-mode.  In addition, I slept with a sound machine or played a relaxing sound playlist on my phone and that definitely has helped me calm down a lot.

Hi I am new here and came across this forum whilst googling for help with vertigo.

I had my first pfeizer vaccine on January 28th and had no side effects whatsoever.  I didn't even feel the needle go in.  i then got called for my second jab on 10th april 2021.  this time it hurt slightly as the needle went in the arm and slight soreness on the day after, but more noticeable was the headache that came on during the evening of the 10th.  By the next day the headache had gone.  On the 17th April I started to feel my ear needed clearing and, at the same time, headaches started.  This continued every day getting worse as the day wore on.  I contacted my GP and he gave me anti-sickness pills and I booked in to have my ear syringed.  However, I never got there as on the 29th April I woke in the night and nearly fell out of bed... the whole room was moving and I felt violently sick.  Rang 111 and was told to see my GP in the morning... he sent me to local hospital where I had a CT scan (by this time I could hardly walk - was in a wheelchair being taken round the hospital).. The CT scan ruled out stroke and tumours and I was sent home with a veiw to going to ENT .  Felt bad at home so went to GP again - he did the manoeuvres for BPPV but all it did was make me feel extremely ill and hardly able to walk without holding on to the wall.  He said all my symptoms didn't correspond totally with BPPV so he would urgently refer me to ENT at our local hospital.  I got an appointment through but it isn't until the 22nd June as the consultant there downgraded me to standard.  I have now had these symptoms for 3 weeks and they are constant - headache, dizziness, unsteady on feet, pain in back of neck, nausea, fullness in the ear, tickle in the ear, all of which are dreadfully debilitating.  I did consider the vaccine as being the problem but my GP said unlikely so I am pleased to find this forum.

Please, if anyone can help me and shed any light on this =has anyone had this reaction and recovered?  if so , how long did it take and how did you convince the medical auhtorities that the vaccine was to blame.  I am over 60 and havn't done anything which could bring Vertigo on (I have never had it before in my life)

I am very anxious just to get some answers so if there is help out there, please can you share your experiences and any answers to this problem

Thanking you in anticipation

Swift

@lpycb42 thanks for the reply. It's good to see someone can relate. Today, maybe I feel a little better. Just want to be normal again.

@swift I'm going on 16 weeks post vaccine and am still having some issues (headaches, dizziness and tinnitus). I have had an MRI with/without contrast, blood tests, neurological exam, hearing, balance and VNG. All were normal. Saw my internist, ENT specialist and neurologist. Currently going to PT for vestibular rehab. Was on a Medrol steroid pack which didn't help. I'm currently taking Flonase, azelastine and hydrochlorothiazide.

Unfortunately, the pattern of your side effects is a common one on this forum. The side effects do settle down but it takes time. During the initial stages, switching between ibuprofen and acetaminophen every few hours helped a bit at the expense of an upset stomach.

@yoki Hi and many thanks for your reply.. I have just found a report of side effects to the vaccine in the uk, and if I have read it correctly, there have been over 500 reports of vertigo as a side effect... i know its not many in the scheme of things, but its all relative when it happens to you.

I shall go to my appointment on the 22nd June armed with all this, but at the moment have only been given an anti sickness and told to take paracetamol which isnt touching it.

All i can say is its a good job I have now retired... whilst working I hardly had a day off but there is no way I could carry on with my old job feeling like this.

I hope things start to improve soon for you yoki... its so debilitating and makes you so miserable :(.  thanks again for replying

@asimps maybe you have already tried alprazolam, but when I was having major issues with nausea with chemo,  my oncologist prescribed 3 different meds to try.  The one that helped the most was alprazolam (also used for anxiety).  Zofran did nothing for me then.

This is so bizarre. After 12 weeks of feeling dizzy, headaches etc after my first astrazeneca vaccine, I had my second vaccine yesterday and since then I've had no dizziness or headaches. A few hours after having the vaccine, I felt pressure in my ears, like that aeroplane feeling. I have is a sore arm (didn't have that after the first vaccine), stiff neck, aching shoulders and back, rumbling stomach, like I did after the first vaccine. Tinnitus is still the same. Today I've been out shopping and visiting but by 5pm felt so tired I had to have a nap. I don't know if this is going to last but I am going to make the most of it while it does. Best wishes everyone.😊

@tabby so in other words, right after your second vaccine, your symptoms which persisted for 12 weeks stopped? Could you be a little more specific for me about this? Like it stopped right away or took a couple days, etc. Were all 12 weeks about the same? How debilitating was it?

@djtoman

  1. Thanks for sharing this link.  I'm 57F. Back in January 2021 I was in bed for four days with vertigo.  I had never had it before!  Because it was so unusual, I googled whether COVID could present this way, and found that vertigo with C19 is a thing! ... three weeks later I tested positive. (My first test) So I knew then that's what it was. I generally have a pretty good immune system and I did not have ANY of the classic symptoms.... yesterday I got my second Pfizer vaccine.  Today all day I've been having brain zaps and just a weird feeling.  I'll keep you all posted if I continue to experience vax- related symptoms. Blessings to all.
