@mm824,

I, too, had dizziness after 5 minutes of my 2nd Covid vaccine. I was directed to an on-site nurse who took my vitals.  My blood pressure, which is usually super low, was close to 140/?.  She had me drink water and relax for 40 minutes. Every 15 minutes she took my blood pressure.  It came down each time.

I told her I was ready to drive, but shouldn't have, as I was in a brain fog while driving.  I pulled off at a Walmart and waited until I felt better.  When home, I developed a 99.5 fever.  I went to bed and woke up feeling better, but my vaccine spot on my arm was "on fire".

I put a cool cloth on it and took some ibuprofen.  Ii am glad to know my immune system reacted.  Yay!!!

I also thought the meclizine made me feel worse and quit taking it after my first bad episode that I wound up in the hospital 6 days after first vaccine. Immediately felt better when I stopped taking it (still dizzy spell and tinnitus, but not a horrible sick feeling)...but after my second ER visit 7 weeks in, the Dr said to take the meclizine 25 mg 4 times a day for 5 days and this time I think it has been helping. My dizzy spells and tinnitus have gone from one extreme to the other. Sometimes I only have a few dizzy waves a day,or have a few good days and think it is finally going away - then I wound up having a really rough day with constant dizzy and non stop vomiting, winds me up in the hospital. Had them give me Rx's for anti nausea and Valium since that is what they give me at the hospital - I am not taking it unless I start to feel really bad.
During those episodes I can barely hear out of my left ear, with really loud ringing and pressure but it goes away.

Interesting about the migraines that many of us here get them and are having similar side effects. I have suffered with migraines for years. Get them maybe once every couple to few months. Sumitriptan and a nap wipes them right out. But anyone with the question of right and left... I got my vaccine both times in my left arm and having the bad tinnitus mostly in that ear. My migraines, though, are always on the right side.
I woke up Saturday morning with beginnings of a headache so took a migraine pill - but I did not take the meclizine as you are not supposed to take both at the same time.
I get migraines a lot on Saturdays and finally found where they can be triggered by a stress release. After working all week, stressed out, Friday night comes around with relaxation, triggering that stress release. I always thought it might be the pizza or picked up fast food we generally got on Friday nights. Makes sense you don't have them now with not working.

My mother is experiencing the same thing. Extreme vertigo and nausea, going on day 9! She has been to the ER twice and the second time she was legitimately terrified she was going to die. She could not even open her eyes due to the nausea, dizziness, and double vision. They attempted a second CT scan (first scan was first ER visit to rule out a clot/bleed) but the second they laud her flat she began vomiting. After what a bunch of different meds, none which helped (except Ativan), she finally fell asleep and they managed to perform an MRI. Her MRI shows a mastoid effusion. Fluid accumulation near the mastoid bone and inflammation. BUT no fever, no elevated wbc's. No clear indication if an infection. They admitted her overnight, but the next day sent her home with Ativan. It is so upsetting to see the lack of concern that this most likely vaccine related. Not to mention the lack of answers!!! My father called Pfizer and they just casually said to see her PCP and that dizziness is listed as a possible side effect. They need to be educated about all of this, as do the doctors. She will be seen by the ENT on Tuesday so I will update then!

My question is are any of you that are experiencing this also sufferers of autoimmune disorders? My mother has psoriatic arthritis and hashimoto. She is on a biologic med, taltz injection for the arthritis. I am truly just trying to find the connection and some answers! This is horrible! I hope everyone gets some answers and feels better soon!

I started feeling dizzy 5 minutes after the shot. Half an hour later there was more dizziness and a bit of a panic. One hour after the shot, panic filing went away, but dizziness was still there. Now I am 3 days later, and still dizzy, very uncomfortable feeling... I have 2nd thoughts whether to do a 2nd shot or not.

Summary: 1st dose of mRNA resulted in mild vertigo/dizziness for 8 days ( I have BPPV for 30 years) felt like I was on a plane for 8 days.  2nd dose (this past wed) had body aches, chills , no fever but heavy full pressure in ears. Today Friday, almost all symptoms gone. Waiting to see if vertigo kicks in as it could take a few days for it to show up

Recovered by Friday, thus only felt under the weather for 1.5 days after the second dose of Pfizer vaccine. To it beats getting the actual viral infection.

@hollyd I always thought mine were triggered by stress itself, but while I was acutely stressed I would work through it, and as soon as the acute stress was removed I would notice it. But it sounds similar! Maxalt and going to bed also always knocked them out for me. Having one for the better part of 2/9 - 3/5 was horrible! The triptans would provide relief for a few hours, but then it would come back full force. I lost basically the entire month of February.

I just found this website and forum and am sharing my story for others who may feel like they are all alone with their symptoms.  Because I'm a frontline healthcare worker (RN), I received the vaccine earlier than most on this forum and have been experiencing vaccine symptoms for longer. I'm a 50 year old previously healthy female with a lifelong history of migraines and motion sickness.  I experienced my first episode of vertigo in 10/2020 which improved slowly over several weeks (vestibular rehab had some effect, meclizine helped as well).  After the initial episode resolved, vertigo would still come and go if I was tired or dehydrated.

I received the 1st Moderna vaccine on 12/26/20 with typical COVID arm, fatigue for several days.  No Vertigo.

I received the 2nd Moderna vaccine on 1/23/21 and it's been a living hell ever since.  I've been unable to physically go to work now for 8 weeks.  Since week 2, I've been working part-time from home, currently working 4 hours per day, 3 days/week with a day of rest in between (MWF). I can only work 60-90 minutes at a time before significant cognitive symptoms and vertigo begin to escalate requiring periods of rest/sleep.  For the first week, symptoms included constant fever (up to 103.5), aches, extreme fatigue, joint pain, nausea, malaise, tachycardia.  A Medrol pack was prescribed on day 6 and knocked down the fever and 'flu-like' symptoms. However, since then I am having long-COVID or ME/CFS symptoms and also significant vertigo/dizziness.  Other symptoms include significant cognitive challenges: memory, aphasia (word recall especially when talking), difficulty concentrating and I am VERY easily overstimulated by visual and/or auditory stimulus (this along with the vertigo is the most debilitating symptoms).  Vertigo is both a primary symptom from moving around in space (walking, riding in a car, driving, but interestingly enough it doesn't happen when sitting up in bed or standing from sitting?) but vertigo is also a symptom when I do any cognitive activity for too long.  Other symptoms include increased HR without cause (up to 135 yesterday when I was getting dressed, often HR up to 110 when I stand up).  My immunologist put me back on a low dose of corticosteroid last week (for the 3rd time) and I have been taking cyproheptadine (antihistamine) since week 3 as the immunologist believes this to be an immunological inflammatory response to the vaccine. He believes that I will eventually recover but that it may take a long time and that pacing with adequate rest, hydration, and eliminating stress are keys for recovery.

I'm being followed by an immunologist, PCP, PT, and seeing an Innovative Medicine MD and Neurologist over the next several weeks.  PT believes that this episode of vertigo is central in origin and not due to crystals (as was assumed back in October).

If you're still reading - yikes!  Thank you and you're not alone!

If you have any suggestions (vertigo/dizziness or otherwise) I'm grateful.

C

I have been horrible vestibular migraine type symptoms for 2 months straight, which started 3 days  after receiving the 2nd dose of the Pfizer vaccine. It’s a disequilibrium/ foggy/ off balance feeling, along with slight pressure on side of my face. I’ve had an MRI and balance study, both were normal. I am currently starting balance PT, acupuncture, and prophylactics migraine meds. I can function, however, I always feel intoxicated and dizzy in some ways, and I am sensitive to light and noise, but have had no headache pain at all.  I am desperate for this to go away!  It sounds as thought others have had this same side effect.  Has anyone had success with a specific treatment?

Hey all! I have read many of the posts here and am glad I am not the only one experiencing these side effects. I got my first moderna shot on 3-13 and have dizziness, sometimes severe dizziness, ever since. I am going to see my doctor to determine if the second shot is wise to get. I have had vertigo in the past but this is like the last days of a vertigo attack. I hate feeling so “out of it” it is causing me to miss work and that is not good. I hope to get some answers from my doctor.

@hollyd I joined the group on March 18th (my report page 22.) Had first dose Astra Zeneca Feb 23rd. I had a really bad constant migraine for 2 and a half weeks, also dizzy, tired, etc. I too suffer with migraines in normal life since I was a small girl ( now 67) My doctor won’t admit it could be the vaccine, have had a blood test, all normal. At the weekend the migraine cleared but I still have a kind of motion sickness. This has definitely been a reaction to the vaccine with side effects of migraine that I suffer with all year long. I take sumatriptans, that normally take it away. But during this time, I took one each day, it cleared and then came back. I’m hopefully on the tail end! Nobody I know thinks it could be the vaccine so this forum is my daily read. Thank you so much.

Ok. Now it’s Monday morning. 5 full days after my EMS trip to the ER with debilitating vertigo that started one week to the day after my second Moderna shot.
Last night I raised my adjustable bed and slept on my back all night to avoid rolling on to my side and triggering the vertigo.  I woke up this morning with no dizziness as I got out of bed.
Fingers crossed that this is the beginning of the end of the vertigo!

I sent a letter to the editor of my local newspaper to share my experience with post-vaccination vertigo. Hopefully even if it saves one person from thinking they are dying when vertigo sets in days after being vaccinated it’ll be worth sharing my ordeal.

@hollyd Hello there, Sounds like you are a fellow Menieres sufferer? If so, have you had these horrible bouts in the past?

Which shot did you receive? Sorry if this is repeat question.

Feel better!

I had 1 dose of Moderna. 5 days later I experienced extreme dizziness which (4 weeks later) recurs occasionally.

I appreciate your post!  I will not be accepting a second dose.
