Hi everyone I have been having neurological issues for awhile now. I got my second moderna vaccine on February 28th, and for about 3 weeks after I had massive tension headaches every day until it subsided. Then at the beginning of May some floaters came into my vision, followed by the whole array of visual snow syndrome symptoms over the next month. (Floaters, light sensitivity, tinnitus, static in vision, after image effect). Is anyone going through the same thing? All of these came on about two months after the vaccine and a month and a half after the head aches stopped. I’ve been dealing with this for 3 months now and hope there’s an end in sight.

Hiya how are you doing these days?

I'm pretty much experiencing the same symptoms as you starting two months after first Pfizer vaccine. Eye tests came back normal. So worrying.

Yes. I also developed floaters...first in my left eye shortly after my first Pfizer vaccination. Then my right eye a few weeks later. Since my second vaccination my eyesight has worsened. My doctor says no such side effect has been recorded for the vaccine, but obviously others are also experiencing this problem. I have been told it has something to do with fluid around the retina. Does anyone know if there is someone to report these side effect to?

How are you doing these days have you had any eye improvement since your post?

@saba Getting better every day!  After feeling and seeing cloudiness for the past nine months, I have rarely even noticed it the last few days.  Ten days since starting the collagen supplement.  For those who are experiencing floaters, dark spots or cloudiness, I really suggest trying a collagen supplement for at least 7 days.  Nothing to lose in trying it.  If you do, please keep us updated on your personal results.

@stephff Hi sorry that you are going through the same! With new floaters I think the recommendation is to get them checked out by an eye doctor to rule out issues with retina detaching, which is usually rare, but just in case. Are your floaters always there? Or do they come and go? If they are always there they are probably the normal floaters which are rather stubborn and no telling if/when they will go away. If they come and go, they may be related to an ocular migraine which will subside once the migraine issue resolves. Hope you find some answers soon. Good luck!

@stevem Hi Steve, how are you taking the collagen? Do you think it will still work if added to hot tea? Or should I use it with cold beverages?

@lili23 The cloudiness or spots may be caused by the eye’s lubrication leaking around the eye socket to the front of the eye (look up PVD, Post Ventricular Disorder).  This fluid is primarily Collagen and water, and a loss of collagen may be allowing a thinner lubricant to leak around the socket to the front of the eye.

My “PVD” started exactly 24 hrs after receiving the Pfizer vaccine.  After reading these posts I’m convinced they’re related.

There’s really nothing to lose by just trying a collagen supplement for a week.  Within a week my eye stated clearing.  Now at almost 2 weeks of taking a collagen supplement it nearly cleared up.  Wish my Dr. had told me this months ago and suggested I give it a try.

@stephff Hi Steph! I am happy to report I am really doing better today! What set me back was an ill-timed visit to Whole Foods on Monday. I went from feeling pretty great to REALLY BAD and basically winding up sprawled across chairs and a table in the back of WF....;-) barely made it home, you know the drill!

It took me all week to feel okay again. I noticed flashers again yesterday, like flashing chevrons and I've had these pretty consistently since the summer. I've been to the VGH eye clinic twice and they're still not satisfied with the subconjunctival hemorrhage (eye bleed). Apparently, there is still a small bump on my eye ball. Oy vey!

How is your mom doing? I so wish I hadn't had a 3rd booster. What I'm wondering is why I was texted and told to get my 3rd, 15 weeks after the 2nd shot? I am on cortisone for adrenal replacement, so I know that's why I'm considered "clinically vulnerable" and needing a 3rd booster, but no one else I know - including my 87 y/o mom - have had it yet and all my major problems started the moment I stood up after my 3rd shot. It seems all the literature and the CDC are saying 6 months, so why did I receive a notification to get it so early??

Please let me know how you're doing! It's so nice to hear from a fellow BC'er...my sister and her family all live in Victoria.

Wishing you and your family all the best. Please stay in touch!

Judes

@stephff I have always had photophobia to some extent (migraines). But what I had a few weeks ago was terrifying. There were about 4-5 days where I had all the lights off in here, all the drapes shut (it rained all week and was super gloomy) and I still couldn't get rid of my headache. I couldn't even watch TV at one point. I remember sobbing because my BF had 1 track light on in the kitchen and I wanted him to use a candle! I just sobbed, "I can't take any light!" I eventually used this black "migraine" mask that is weighted and covers my eyes completely so I'm in total darkness. I stayed there taking painkillers for a few days because any actually hurt my eye and triggered severe headaches - definitely not migraines - but that has slowly gotten better. But I was triggered in Whole Foods the other day, so I'm still being very careful. I also found my eyes burned and actually hurt. The eye clinic told me to use Systane gel which is a hypoallergenic OTC gel for dry eyes and yes, it did help.

So, my light sensitivity did get better! Yours will to...I'm sure of it.

Hang in there!

Judes

@stephff If your floaters come and go, they are very likely related to migraines and they will definitely resolve once the migraines subside. And this is based on what I have heard from several people with floaters that come and go. I have heard of migraine meds helping some (amitryptiline is the common one I keep hearing about), of course, it would be based on your neurologist diagnosing and prescribing you any meds to help it. Good luck to you!

@stevem I am trying your recommendation (collagen supplement) and will report back! could it be that your PVD is complete and the floaters settled? Apparently once the PVD is complete the gel liquefies and floaters can settle at the bottom of our eye. Either way, it is great news that yours have faded and almost subsided! I am happy for you because only after you have them do you realize what a blessing it is to have clear vision, something we take for granted or I did:)
