Restoring synergy is an advanced evidence-based occupational and physical therapy CEU course designed for instruction on the evaluation and treatment of complex vestibular dysfunction. This online course directed at PTs, OTs, and ATCs, who have prior experience in treating vestibular dysfunction, instructs techniques to enhance outcomes with complex patients.
Managing the whole person and their specific environment is an essential component to the success of the outcomes. Each person has specific criteria and goals that need to be obtained to get back to functioning in the community and work environments. Comorbidities need to be addressed and understood to be able to perform a comprehensive differential diagnosis and treatment plan. Patient diagnoses discussed will include cervicogenic dizziness, atypical BPPV, Persistent Postural-Perceptual Dizziness (PPPD), Vestibular migraine, Acoustic schwannoma, superior canal dehiscence. The specific patient case study will address bilateral hypofunction, assessment, and progression of treatment to get the patient back to functioning in her home environment and managing life within a community.

This course is applicable for PT, OT, and AT.

AOTA: This course’s Professional activity focuses on Foundation Knowledge for the Occupational Therapist. Topics related to the diagnosis and conditions encountered by OT practitioners and provide medical information, background, and context relevant to occupational therapy practice. PD activities focus on diagnosis and conditions, neuroscience, and behavior.
