Hi all,

Just looking for advice I’m in the UK and got diagnosed with vestibular neuritis by a private ENT consultant.

I’ve just about got to grips with my dizzy spells and sickness and thankfully work from home currently due to the pandemic.

I have my 1st covid jab booked for Sunday (a few days) but scared will make my dizziness worse potentially? I know deep down if my dizziness worsened I would become unemployable over night.

Any help is appreciated, stay safe all take care 🙂

Scott

I had my 1 Moderna shot 4 days ago. I am just this week having a lot of dizziness. It seems to be getting worse.  Hoping it goes away. Anyone have any experience about this ?

Hi,

Yes I had vertigo and dizziness that started 13 days after the 2nd Pfizer shot.  I've had it for 26 days.  The last 3 days the vertigo has been much better.  I'm eating an anti-inflammatory diet, taking Meclizine as needed, walking, drinking water and taking turmeric/tart cherry supplements.  I also did 9 days of steroids when I had severe vertigo.

Feel better,

Teresa

Hi everyone. I’ve been reading the posts in this forum for almost 2 months. I wanted to share my story as well. I got my second Pfizer shot on March 6. I had no side affects from the first shot except for a sore arm. I felt exhausted and out of it the day after the second one with body aches. I started feeling better the next day. Exactly a week later, on March 13, I woke up feeling extremely out of it, foggy, dizzy, and like I was drunk. These symptoms lasted for three days straight, and then I called my doctor. Since that time, I’ve have good days and bad days. On good days I feel fairly normal, and on bad days it’s hard to function. I have all this pressure in my ears and my head, I’m super foggy and fatigued, it’s very hard to concentrate, and I feel lightheaded like you do when you stand up too fast. That’s how I feel all day. I’ve had blood work done twice, and all my tests have come back normal. I’ve been to an otolaryngology office, where they performed numerous tests. All came back normal except the Dix Hallpike, which created nystagmus on my left side. However, even though I was initially diagnosed with BPPV, the vestibular PT I saw does not think it’s BPPV, as I am not really experiencing vertigo, my dizziness is constant instead of episodic, and I did not find any improvement with multiple maneuvers that treat BPPV. I’ve tried lots of the suggestions I’ve read that have helped others in the forum, such as taking vitamin C and D, ibuprofen, resveratrol, alpha lipoic acid, Benadryl, drinking lots of water. I was also prescribed Meclizine, which doesn’t make me feel any different. I am trying acupuncture now, which I just started last week and will continue weekly to see if it helps. Not sure it did anything for me after my first session. It’s now been over 9 weeks since these symptoms began and I am incredibly discouraged. I worry I’m never going to stop feeling like this. My doctor does think that my symptoms are a reaction to the vaccine. She said she’s seen patients who are experiencing similar symptoms after they had COVID, and generally she said they clear up within 3 months or so. I would like to believe that in the next month I will stop feeling like this, but it is hard to remain hopeful after experiencing this for so long with no end in sight. I did find out that my aunt had similar symptoms to me after her vaccine, and hers did clear up after about 3 months. The next step my doctor suggested is seeing a neurologist. However, I know many people here have already seen neurologists and had head CTs and MRIs, which all came back normal. I’ve been spending so much money on all these specialists and for all these tests, and I don’t want to keep doing that anymore. If anyone here has any suggestions for symptom relief that I haven’t tried yet, please let me know. Thanks. It’s been nice to feel connected to others who are experiencing what I’ve been feeling and to know I’m not alone. However, I’m sorry we’re all going through this, and I hope for all of us that we start feeling better soon and that this isn’t permanent.

I would very carefully consider the pros and cons.  I consulted 4 doctors who knew me before making the decision to get the vaccine.  Even then I had vertigo and dizziness with no prior history.  I've had it for 26 days, unable to drive and staying mostly at home.

@intrinsic-factor

My floaters are better, for the last 4 weeks they've been bothering me.

Thanks for your reply, yes I’m going to book in with the same ENT consultant who diagnosed me a few years back to see what he recommends, until then I will postpone my jab until I have some firm answers, I’ll not rush into the decision. I hope you feel better soon and have a speedy recovery, dizziness is a horrible thing to have to live with and really is life changing.

Good morning everyone,

Yes “good” I think I finally found something that works for me with the help of this forum. I started a new regiment. Realizing that my brain fog and tinnitus could be an inflammatory reaction to the vaccine based on it doing it’s job to create antibodies to the virus in my body, I started taking “turmeric  extract” twice a day. Secondly, based on insights from people on this forum I realized the Covid “protein” that mimic in the vaccine may also be causing some of my symptoms ie extreme fatigue (ten hours of sleep at night and min. a two hour daytime nap/not normal for me!!!), plus extreme headaches that are very unusual and not like my classic migraines nor vestibular cousins. Hence, an aha moment to take an ativ-viral supplement twice a day as well. Result??? (Drum roll please) after two days for the first time in almost nine weeks post second Pfizer jab, I woke up with no spinning when getting out of bed and no brain fog and no debilitating headache. Hallelujah!!!

Here’s what I am taking in case you’re interested but not as a suggestion to do the same. No medical advice here.

Life Extension-Super Bio Curcumin Turmeric Extract-twice a day with food

Biotics Research-Ultra Vir-x

(Both supplements purchased online)

@jondick Don't be too surprised with your bloodwork and MRI come back normal. For the MRI, are you getting it done with/without contrast as well as a MRA (magnetic resonance angiogram). It'll help rule out an AVM or something else sinister. If your doctor doesn't order it, I'd ask for an ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate) or CRP (C-reactive protein) test. Both of these tests are used to determine if you have inflammation. The ESR is probably less sensitive than the CRP as it's not a direct measure of inflammation.

Did you talk to your ENT about this?  If not, please do.  All you can really do is take whatever information you have and weigh it out--and decide for yourself what to do.  Maybe you could consider at least postponing the shot for now, while you decide which is your best choice of what to do.  Whatever you decide, I wish you the best.

Does anyone else have terrible nausea? I have it all the time. I've dropped nearly 30 lbs, and i feel like I'm just wasting away. Zofran, ginger, etc. hasn't helped. Any ideas out there? I feel like I could deal with the constant vertigo/dizziness better if I didn't feel SO ill all the time.

As others have already mentioned--try Meclizine.  If that isn't helpful, try Dramamine (the original).   It does make you sleepy and tired, though.

A 30-lb weight loss sounds very concerning.  Have you talked to a doctor about this?  Are you able to keep anything down?

If anyone is interested. I ran a quick database search of the VAERS and came up with this. I honestly don't know the context of the numbers but it appears to me that the side effects we're experiencing is not insignificant. Another reason to self report on VAERS so your side effects can be counted.

@isismadec I've tried meclizine, zofran, ginger, etc. The doctors are aware of it. I do not vomit, I just have no desire to eat because the nausea is so relentless. I may get 2 or 3 bites down before I have to give up. I appreciate everyone's advice, thank you all!
