@hollyd Hello! I am so sorry to hear about what you are going through. I am only 20 years old and I have been experiencing vertigo two days after I got my first Pfizer dose. I have been taking Meclizine to help, but the vertigo is still present. The doctors also do not believe me when I tell them that I think this sudden onset of vertigo could be a side effect of the vaccine :/ I am seeing an ENT next week to determine if I should get the second dose. Hopefully this pain is only temporary.

I got my second Moderna on February 10th. I was fine until 2 weeks ago when I started getting odd symptoms. I had no idea what it was, I still don’t, but I have been reading up on the vaccine and I am finding out that so many others are having similar symptoms. Facebook has a group with many people claiming lingering symptoms.
Mine start out as tingling in my right foot, that’s how I know an “episode” is coming on. The tingling reaches my face and I have a heaviness on my body. All I can do it sit and wait for it to pass. It lasts about 30-40 seconds. Scary feeling. It happens anywhere from 1-4 times a day. I went to the DR on Monday, he had me do lab work, still waiting for the results. I’m also waiting for the neurology department to call so I can make an appt. I have never had these symptoms before. Is anyone having tingling? Extreme Fatigue, as well.

Just came back on to update on my Mother's situation. She just got back from seeing an ENT. He told her all the fluid has dried up that they had seen on her MRI (they said she had Mastoid Effusion). he told her at this point to try to not take as much of the Ativan(only medicine that was helping her) and that she should start physical therapy. I believe she was able to get an appointment today, however I'm not sure how much that is going to help as I truly believe this is related to the vaccine and the inflammation it has caused. I am praying that it does not make her worse again because she already had a very scary trip to the ER in which her blood pressure was skyrocketing, she had double vision, and extreme vertigo and nausea. I am praying every day for all of you are as well that you all get better and they start to really address the side effects that are so clearly related to the vaccine. as I had mentioned before my mother had never had any prior vertigo or vestibular issues, but she does suffer from to auto immune disease is and I'm wondering if there is some type of link there. Perhaps if any of you have autoimmune diseases, we can sense if there's a link between the two. Anyway, that is my update for now! I will keep you all posted!

I had my first shot of Moderna vaccine on January 6, 2021 and on January 19, I started feeling dizzy - kind of off balance a type of disequilibrium. I thought it was just a one time episode so I wasn't concerned at all but when it persisted for the whole week I started getting worried. Ever since then, the dizzy spells have being coming and going. Some days are less severe but like today I had to hold on to the wall to walk so I don't fall. I do not have vertigo but I just feel off balance as if I would fall. It is now over 9 weeks since this began. I have done head CT Scan - negative, Carotid duplex ultrasound - negative, audio test - negative. I am scheduled for the VNG test on April 12, 2021. I will provide update then. Today I also posted my symptoms on the FDA website and I encourage everyone to do so because I think physicians still do not believe that there is causation here but even if it is correlation, people need to know. I a glad I found this forum

@holli

Can you tell me if you already had a vestibular condition?  I was diagnosed with Vestibular Migraine and PPPD last summer and still am struggling every day but I am 80% better than I was a year ago and adjusting to my "New Norm." I am very concerned that getting the vaccine will put me back at square one....

I sincerely appreciate this information and sharing. I had a vertigo episode 10 days after receiving the 1st dose of Pfizer. I have a vestibular concussion and thought my symptoms worsened but now I’m wondering if it is the vaccine. I received my second dose yesterday and I am so hoping I do not have more episodes.

For those of you who shared symptoms of vertigo and dizziness post receiving both doses of the vaccine months ago, have your symptoms gone away or improved ? I can no longer find the earlier posts.

@thenystagmus I had several cold sores after each shot.

Thanks for your response 👍

  • I couldn't get into my clinic the last 2 days and felt so rotten and worried that I went to the ER today. The doctor couldn't tell me 100% I didn't have shingles on my nose, but gave me a Bactroban prescription used for staph infection to try on it. Strep test from throat was negative and my Covid test from Wednesday came back negative today. Checked my eyes with florescent? drops, and they're ok. Attributed my swollen tender neck lymph nodes to my Moderna vaccine given on 3/3 but said if they get larger or aren't resolving in a month I should get a CT of my lymph nodes and should probably be seen by an Infectious Disease specialist. Also related my vertigo, nystagmus, dizziness to the vaccine and said it will probably go away eventually since it's been slowly getting better most of the time. The ER doctor I saw told me he had a rough time having COVID, spending time in the ICU for a while and did not want to get it again. He said got vaccinated and had side effects for 3-4 days. So, back to taking my new Vitamins D & C - other than that I take nothing. I still feel intermittently dizziness and lousy, but I have hopes of getting to feel better eventually.

@allisonk Thank you for that info! My ER doctor today said that they're getting reports of a lot of different things associated with getting the vaccine, now that it's not just the small groups that were in the studies - now that the larger population is getting vaccinated and some are reporting having issues.

I can relate! I’ve had vestibular issues for 24 years now. Mine started from a viral infection that destroyed my right vestibular nerve. My brain stem and facial nerve were also involved.  I take a low dose of clonazepam every day to stay functional. I’ve had long periods of my life when my dizzies were non existent and then long periods of consistent issues. I’ve usually had constant swaying and rocking along with vestibular migraines. Fast forward to Monday, March 22nd after receiving my first Moderna dose.  Felt off and foggy and now Friday, swaying away pretty good. I’m quite certain the vaccine set it off from triggering a inflammatory response. I just feel like the second dose will tip the scale into an endless cycle. I just can’t do it. I’ll be skipping the dose and feel very disappointed that I won’t be as protected as I had hoped. I’ve had a lot of experience being dizzy so anyone feel free to reach out to me. I also have tinnitus and yes it’s much worse since the shot but I’d rather be ringing than dizzy! Thoughts to all of you!

@jwblue I’m 45/F/active asthmatic with no prior vestibular issues.  First Moderna on 1/19 and have had nonstop tinnitus since.  The sound is high pitched hissing both ears, occasionally low piercing in left ear. 9 weeks straight and not a single thing minimizes it.  I’m taking high doses of vitamins but so far nothing is helping.

@michaelk

Your posts are very helpful, thank you.

I’ve posted once here on page 8 I think. I’ve had Pfizer #1 on 3/4/21 with debilitating vertigo, I was supposed to have #2 yesterday, but delaying because, well, I have a job that I’d like to keep. I’m curious if you can link these studies about the efficacy of the vaccine at #1. This is exciting if it’s valid.

I have joined the vestibular disorders Facebook page mentioned here and had a physician comment that many colleagues report vertigo, she’s not working, after Pfizer #2 due to vertigo. She believes there’s a direct causation to the vaccine. My ENT dx me w vestibular neuritis not related to the vaccine and urged me multiple times to get #2.

There are no longitudinal vaccine studies—that’d be us.

Thanks!

@hollyd I'm so sorry for what you are going through. No, I don't feel like the prednisone helped at all. Currently, I am trying what everyone here is recommending: Vitamin C, Vitamin D, decongestant, CoQ10, lots of water, and adding small walks outside. I tried working one day (yesterday) and it was a disaster. I'm getting really tried of this whole thing. I feel like I lost my life. I'm 46, healthy except for my vestibular migraines which were completely under control until the vaccine. Although it's expensive, I think I will go to the ER just so I can say I have tried everything. I truly do hope this will go away.
