@lylarayns My experience is very similar. 1st shot Jan. 29 second shot Feb. 26. Mild reaction after the second shot and then seemed fine. 3 weeks later, I started having mild dizziness with brain zaps and it has continued for a week now. It is very annoying and uncomfortable.
My debilitating vertigo began 60 hours post vaccine. Then lasted for about 3 days and became intermittent until day 10. Then day 14, after the vaccine I only had late in the day, intermittent, mild dizziness and was able to drive 3 hours with no symptoms. Then I had intermittent dizziness until day ~23. Today is day 24, I’m feeling okay after drinking 36oz of water yesterday, having zero caffeine.
Ever the optimist I’m moving forward planning on getting another vaccine.
I urge everyone to report any and all symptoms to the CDC https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/safety/vsafe.html
or whatever agency there is in their country. This is how medicine works and how data is peer reviewed and disseminates to the providers who can develop treatment modalities that work. We are in an exciting time in medical history!
@baylor02 Thanks for your info and your candor. I'm sure we're all probably scrambling through our poor old heads trying to figure this out; I know I am! I've remembered several long ago occasions of dizziness/vertigo episodes. About 45 years ago I got a concussion from a blow to my head, once I had symptoms when I got in a really hot hot tub, and I've always been pretty prone to motion sickness. I once developed nystagmus after 1 week of a new job where I was inspecting screen printed work on papers in a conveyor belt that went into a jogger. I was told that was a manifestation of motion sickness. And I always end up bruised up for a while in new close environments like I have to "find" my position in those spaces with my body. So, most of those episodes are normal, but I'd bet my vestibular and other balance perceptions have always been somewhat dysfunctional. Also, my ER doctor said that one unexplained episode 6 months prior to this made it more likely that I'd have this reaction. No, I don't want to be a Covid vaccine long-hauler either, but I suspect I may have had Covid a year ago, which may explain my "robust" reaction to the Moderna. I'm hoping I have a surplus if antibodies and plan to bank on that for now and not get the second dose. I think I'd sure want to know that my antibody level showed the need for a boost before I'd even dreeeam of getting it again.
yes, I’m day 25 and feel very differently. You see see my first post on page 8 here, I was so frightened. I rested very well, ate well (warm food and high protein) drank and drank water. Meditated when possible, to avoid the anxiety, and I stayed active which I think is part of training our inner ear to recalibrate. I have also vigilantly taken my vitamins to include vitamins D and magnesium. This is our body doing what it’s supposed to do get our immune system’s response geared up.
I have found this chat room/blog a most welcome place to land since my ENT passed it off as coincidental. I believe he’s wrong, wouldn’t be the first time I’ve disagreed w a physician in my 61 years. I seriously urge everyone here to report to the CDC, etc. I went to the Pfizer data two days before the jab because I ALWAYS have fever, chills and malaise to the flu vaccines that the US Army made me get during my time of service.
We need to report because—what if I had known I should have super hydrated, rested, taken Advil immediately before and/afterwards, ate well, etc... We are making history and this is what medical science looks like. I’m the ONLY person I know who’s had such adverse reactions. Only one person has had the COVID arm and another was feverish, etc for 24-hours.
I often say, “Don’t give me the odds of one in a whatever because I’m often that one.” I can say that’s not always the bad things either I’ve had a very good life beating the odds too.
Thanks for your insight, I wish you a speedy recovery. How are you?
I’m very thankful to have found this forum. I believed that my symptoms were induced by the vaccine- but no one believed me. No dr. I have spoken to will touch the vaccine subject. I have seen 2 neurologists, 2 PAs, a primary care dr, and an ENT. All of them have said that they just don’t know- and that it’s strange because my symptoms are too far from the vaccine date.
I’m a 33 year old female in relatively good health. The only preexisting conditions I have is a herniated disc and I was anemic when pregnant (I have a 6 month old daughter).
13 days after the moderna vaccine (3/15) I began to have dizzy spells and panic attacks at work. I’m a teacher and thought maybe my symptoms had something to do with wearing a mask all day. My symptoms started on a Monday and lasted through the weekend- brain fog, dizziness, feeling faint, vision shaky. I almost passed out countless times at work. I finally couldn’t take it anymore and went to the ER on 3/21.
At the ER, I had full a full bloodwork panel done, a CT scan, a EKG, and an MRI. All normal. The drs. thought I had a thrombosis in my sinus cavity- but that wasn’t the case. Finally the neurologists on call told me I had vertigo and to follow up with my ENT. The hospital attributed my vision issues to migraines and gave me meds that gave me a dystonic reaction.
I saw my ENT on 3/24 and received no answers. She is sending me for more testing and to an audiologist. I have never had a history with vertigo or inner ear issues.
I’m managing symptoms with Meclizine or Dramamine. I started taking an anti inflammatory and vitamin C after reading many of your posts. I’m trying to drink at least a half gallon of water a day.
I stopped drinking caffeine, and eating salt and chocolate per my ENTs advice. I will say that the caffeine makes my symptoms worse and is the cause of my panic attacks. I had caffeine today and my ear totally freaked out and I had a full blown attack. There’s something about caffeine that is making my inner ear go crazy.
I am currently 2 weeks with my symptoms- mostly dizzy spells and vision issues. I am also hyper sensitive to sounds and light. My migraines come and go- but have stopped since taking the anti inflammatory (knock on wood).
I really hope this gets better- I have an infant at home and I need to get back to work. I’m seriously considering skipping dose 2. I’m supposed to get the second dose this upcoming Saturday.
Hello. I had my first Pfizer jab in Jan. and had no side effects. Had second dose on Feb. 12. Had a mild flu like reaction that resolved within 24 hours.
Around Feb. 24 I started having headaches, nausea and dizziness. Sometimes with vertigo. Very debilitating. This has been ongoing with short periods where I have had 2-4 good days only to have return of symptoms. Though I wouldn’t say that I was completely symptom free. I am also getting accustomed to constant symptoms.
I saw my GP and she couldn’t find anything wrong. She referred me to an ENT, which I am scheduled ti see Tuesday.
I only today came to think that this may be vaccine related because of a dear friend telling me she has nearly identical symptoms.
Debating whether to keep doctors appointment.
I have tried taking ibuprofen, Tylenol, tramadol and Vicodin for headache with out any change.
I have found that eating immediately helps. Does not appear to be a low blood sugar issue, as the onset of relief is much faster than that of absorption of sugars from vegetables or complex carbohydrates.
@baylor02 How am I? Gee, thanks for asking! That's the beauty of our group! Being the only one of many to be experiencing these adverse effects - that seemingly are referred to glibly as a "robust response"; I'll bet the person that coined that phrase wasn't experiencing a disabling side effect! Sooo, I've been frightened, like you, then worried, frustrated, angry, and could easily veer into becoming depressed ...but I don't want to end up there! So, instead I want to lean into my belief that there's One who works all things for my best good and do what I can to cope and what I believe will facilitate my recovery. Oh, and I do celebrate that I'm starting to feel better! I'm fighting the urge to just be still to avoid symptoms, planning to try getting out for walks, weather inviting, taking my weekly Vitamin D prescription for the second time tomorrow and 500 vitamin C twice daily. I'm not doing the ibuprofen dosing because it makes my stomach hurt and makes me feel goofy. I need to get to the grocery to get some better things to eat that are low prep. And I want to do the reporting, but my brain functions are wracked up and it is really difficult for me to stay on task and not dive back into full symptoms when I try to do brain intensive tasks. So, thanks for your upbeat sharing and for asking after how I'm doing. I was surprised by being brought close to tears by a stranger's concern! I was also taken by unwelcome surprise by being laid low by this and it's taking a lot of marshaling of my inner resources to deal with it, but ...today I'll push myself to more and better!
I'm sure if you end up getting the booster dose you'll let us know how you fare afterwards. It's funny how we kind of have our own little "study" of this going on as we muddle through.
I never had a vestibular condition until I had the first Moderna vaccination. I am now over 2 months since being hospitalized and still have balance issues / dizziness every waking minute of every day. It is manageable while I am sitting or laying down and even standing still for the most part, but as soon as I start to walk, I walk like I am drunk on a ship in rough seas.
New subscriber. Had the Pfizer vaccine 3 days ago. Felt fine until this morning when I had severe vertigo. Last time I felt like this was when I was a teen and got drunk. Haven’t experienced such vertigo since. Lay flat on my back for about 2 hours and slowly starting to move around. Finding site gives me reassurance that vaccine likely cause (rather than heart, stroke, etc)
@terese87 this was exactly me. 2 weeks to the day after first shot, panic attacks , racing heart and dizziness. Bad for 2 weeks , then came and went for two weeks , this past week have almost zero events. Maybe a small bit of dizzy/fog. I also quit caffeine and limit sugar because they seem to make it worse. Overall they are going away tho. I did not the second dose. I'm going on the theory that I'm 80% or better protected and that's good enough. I can't do 5 more weeks of this.
@bonniek yes, I had three separate incidents where I though I may be having a heart attack or panic attack. My blood pressure was up to 145/85 and I usually run more 110/60ish. These happened over a two week span, starting 2 weeks after shot. Haven't had one in few weeks. Dizziness had gradually decreased as well. Definitely vaccine related.
I had shot one of moderna on March 2cd. Was so excited to get it. 4 days later I was out for a walk, got suddenly dizzy and the ground was meeting my face. I wasn’t hurt. I have been having vertigo problems since. I went to dr 2 days after fall. Blood pressure high and it never is. Did ekg and bloodwork all normal. Headache sometimes but it feels like my usual sinus headache... 4 days after dr visit I had diarrhea. My stomach still gurgles and I still have intermittent problems with diarrhea. I am improving dizzy wise but am reluctant to get 2cd shot April 1st. Also have been running low grade fever now and then. I take Flonase and Advil sinus for it feels like sinus infection and I am a bit stuffy. I was to dr twice with no answer to be had. After reading I’m not alone I feel I’m not crazy.
@cloudy Starting a day after getting the Pfizer vaccine, I had 5 days of my blood pressure ricocheting like that. I too usually 110/70 with a pulse around 50-55. Every couple of hours my blood pressure would shoot up to 145/85 with a pulse close to 80. Then, after an hour or so it would drop down to my normal BP and heart rate, just to soar again within another hour or so. Would wake me up at night. I also have something that looks like bruising along my wrist and main vein in my forearms. Had that also since the day after getting the vaccine, which means 12 days now. Had two doctors look at it. The first doctor I saw the day it first appeared, He gave me a steroid shot and it least it doesn't seem like it's gotten any worse. The second doctor, my primary care dr., looked at it a couple of days ago and had no answer but said he didn't know how the vaccine could have caused that. I keep waiting for it to go away...Have also had some dizziness, but that hasn't been the symptom that alarmed me the most. I already had a little inner ear problem that has never been resolved.
This is a recent interesting interview about Covid vaccine side effects data collection:
