After my weird visual disturbance the morning after my second vaccine on 2/16 and the almost fainting incident on 2/22 I went to PCP, Caridologist, Ent who referred me to an Audiologist for a VNG ( videonystamogprahy). Dr visits were all great.  VNG showed my hearing was excellent ( I am a very healthy athletic 70 yr old woman), show no vestibular problems at all. I have no tinnitus.  The VNG test (done March 25)  does cause some severe vertigo. In my case it did show a crystal out of place in my right ear. I was diagnosed years ago as right side vertigo.  Today I had an appointment with the therapist who has performed the Eply Maneuver on me twice before. Sure enough I had nystagmus immediately when laying on right side.  It was not as severe as I have had in the past.  She finished the entire maneuver and I was instructed to not lay on right side (I never do) and to sleep with two pillows.  She did say that she has heard and read that many people have had dizziness and tinnitus etc from the vaccines.  She feels it probably illicit an inflammatory response.  For my vertigo she said cold have been a coincidence or inflammation may have cause crystal to move.    Regards my almost fainting a week later she said it could have been the vaccine.  She agrees it is just not known yet what could occur. She certainly did not discount it.  Bottom line, I am still very happy I got both Pfizer vaccines and I would certainly get a booster should it come about.  Getting Covid can be by far a way worse situation.  I hope all start to feel better soon.

I am now 17 days post first moderna shot and 95% back to normal. No more dizziness, nausea, terrible brain fog, etc. Still feel ever so slightly off but nothing compared to how I was, back to being functional.

@LH2021 I'm so happy for you!  You give me hope.  At what day did you notice improvements?  I'm 4 days in and miserable.

@sandram Me too, thought I was nuts!  About 2 1/2 weeks after first dose of Moderna, I would roll over at night, and if I was semi-awake, the dizziness was unbelievable.  Same with getting out of bed in the morning, and for abbout the 1st hour after getting up, I had to hold on to counters, walls, etc. just to stay balanced.  Never had it before, and I am 64. 10 days later, and I still awaken with some dizziness, and if I move my head too quickly, woo! A friend of mine had her 1st shot a week after I did.  Spoke yesterday and she told me she was experiencing full blown vertigo, nausea, etc.  It took some sleuthing between us, and we figured it MUST have been the vaccine.  Have told a few other friends who think we are just crazy, or we have an inner ear infection.  Feel perfectly fine, but for the dizzizness, and disorientation I sometimes feel.  Get the 2nd dose tomorrow.  Will provide updates.

@lh2021 Good to know I'm not the only one experiencing these symptoms.  On day 11, and I get 2nd dose tomorrow.

@sarap I am suffering from tinnitus myself. It started four days after my first Pfizer dose and has not ceased. It’s been a week already.  I will not be taking my second dose. I’m a musician/audio professional and I can’t take the risk. I’m already freaking out. Meditation seems to be the only thing that effectively helps. Has it gone away? Anyone?

I received the Pfizer vaccine the end of January. I immediately felt dizzy. I have experienced, dizziness, neck fullness, shortness of breath and headaches on and off for over 9 weeks now. Originally my thyroid levels were slightly abnormal right after getting the vaccine  and my doc thought it was thyroiditis as I have had that twice in the past after pregnancy.  But now my bloodwork is leveling out. The symptoms are debilitating and no one has answers.  They are sending me to numerous specialists. I felt fine before the vaccine. Has anyone found anything that helps with the symptoms?

After a month now, I really think I'm better, but like some others, I think that means I've put the hardest days behind me - then I revert to having a tough time again! And I can't seem to figure out if there might be things triggering that. I go back and forth between suppressing my movements and pushing into moving more, but I can't tell if one is more helpful than the other. The last 2 days were rough - I'd gotten to mostly dizziness more like motion sickness, but then got back into vertigo and nystagmus again even when sitting or laying totally still. It does seem like I tolerate those times better now, but it seems crazy that I do. Soo, I have to remind myself that this "2 steps forward, one back" has been my pattern and not let it discourage me a lot. I emailed my clinic today asking about possible vestibular therapy, so I'm hoping to get a call back tomorrow regarding the possibility of referral beyond my clinic APRN. Just wanting to do something beyond pushing past the nausea to eat and taking my vitamin D prescription and vitamin C. It is encouraging to hear that some are getting a lot better - thanks for coming back to let us know!

@jluke2aol-com  Hi Linnie, I very much appreciated your post! I also suspect I had Covid before my community was testing for it. Last spring I went to my clinic after being sick for a while, tested negative for strep throat and flu type A & B and was told I must have a virus. I wonder now if previously having Covid infection may have contributed to my developing vertigo and nystagmus 2 days after getting the Moderna vaccine. I'd had one similar episode one evening  6 months prior - tried the Epley one side and then the other, threw up violently, then went to bed and was fine the next morning. This time I've been dealing with slowly resolving symptoms over the last month, with some times of setbacks. I was encouraged to hear your experience of benefiting from therapy and hope I will be able to access some soon. After the getting the first Moderna vaccine, I was diagnosed with vaccine reaction and advised to cancel my second vaccine appointment.  I hope that in the future antibody testing will be developed and utilized to inform us of our level of protection, whether that would be from exposure to Covid, infection with Covid or from Covid vaccination. I know in the US it's recommended to be vaccinated even though you've had Covid, but if I'd known that I already had a robust level of antibodies, I probably wouldn't have chosen to be vaccinated. Thank you for sharing your experience and thoughts! Wishing you much wisdom for your path ahead!

Hey y'all 🙂 I'm glad I found this thread. I have a history of vestibular migraine and vertigo. Since I got the Moderna vaccine a few days ago I thought I was going crazy because of all the tinnitus. I didn't realize it was a side effect. I've had 1 migraine in the past couple days and dizziness on and off, but no severe episodes. What helps me most is CBD (and other medical 🙂 ) I believe I had a mild case of COVID previously which is what caused this strong reaction to Moderna vaccine 1. Of course, this could mean getting full-blown COVID symptoms could be even worse, so I will get the second vaccine and hope for the best.

@thenystagmus

Same here,, Sassafras!  Been on this roller coaster for 10 weeks now! Have a few good days and think it's finally getting better and, bam, knocks me flat out again!

I tried the Cawthorne-Coksey exercises ENT recommended for two days and wound up in hospital with severe dizziness and non stop vomiting. Dr at hospital recommended PT so I went for first visit with all kinds of eye and shaking of head stuff. That night dizziness set in like I had not had before. Instead of waves of varying degrees that came and went, I was dizzy 24/7 for a week! Don't know if coincidence, but I think the PT was more harmful for me. Please be careful and take it slow.

Please notify the US Health & Human Services and Pfizer directly about your symptoms so they have a record: VAERS (Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System with the HHS); for Pfizer, search “reporting adverse effects” which will take you directly to the relevant page. Moderna website directs you to VAERS.

I’ve been reading a lot of this blog—thanks to everyone for contributing. Perhaps there’s a better way for us to organize our comments so we can tease out similarities? I have heard from my internist that the vast majority of people suffering symptoms such as headache and dizziness are women. Perhaps the dosing is too high for women? Or it’s our immune response? Here's my story:

Vaccine brand: Pfizer
Date of first dose: March 22
Symptoms: dizziness, headache, brain fog (“vax fog”)
Duration of symptoms: 2 weeks and counting
When symptoms seem worse: in the mornings; lying down at night; after a glass of wine

Gender: Female
Age: 55
Height/weight: 5’9” 130 lbs.
Underlying conditions: mild asthma, hypothyroidism
Overall health: fit and healthy

My symptoms began on Day 2, a Tuesday. I starting feeling light-headed, which was greatly exacerbated by a glass of wine with dinner. The following day, I woke up with a headache and dizziness, as if I had a really bad hangover. At work, I felt off, like brain fog. Day 3, I reached out to my internist, who suggested waiting a few more days for symptoms to subside. But they haven’t.

Based on comments here, I have tried eliminating coffee, which didn’t really help for me. By the weekend, after I had eliminated wine, tried several vestibular exercises and gardened outdoors, I felt remarkably better for about a day, but that’s all. I’ve tried supplements, probiotics, going gluten-free, sugar-free, dairy-free, but nothing sticks.

Mornings appear to be worse (that’s when I take my thyroid meds). I stopped working out because I feel drained.

I have notified my internist, the HHS and Pfizer, and no one has communicated to me whether I should get the second dose, which is scheduled in a few days. Right now, I am planning on skipping Dose 2.
