Hi!
I just started developing these symptoms and I’m freaking out.
To give a bit of context:I took my first pfizer shot on sunday. I was extremely anxious because I was raised by an extremely religious anti vaxxer mom who recently told me that if I would get it it would be the biggest betrayal for her.
I am 20 years old and I did it behind her back. I cannot talk to people about this because everyone knows I am a hypochondriac and they dont take me seriously. Last night, I woke up 8 times with my arms numb. In the morning the numbness went away I remained with only a subtle tingling feeling. I spent hours researching this and I have no hope.
Is there really nobody who only experienced it for a few days? Can someone give me a positive perspective? I have severe Generalized Anxiety disorder so I guess its the best combination.
Hi. I hope you are feeling better.
I wouldn't worry if your tingling is only subtle. It will subside in time and is just part of your immune response.
Some people (myself included ) experienced strong tingling/pins and needles which is slowly subsiding.
Some recover after a few days, others a few weeks others like myself a bit longer. Everyone's body and recovery journey is different.
As you have anxiety already please don't try and compare your recovery time with anyone else. Your recovery is unique to you.
You can give your body a little helping hand while it deals with the vaccine immune response by keeping off inflammatory foods such as caffeine, alcohol, fried and fatty stuff and eat clean and fresh. Lots of green leafy vegetables and hydrate. Turmeric tea is also very beneficial.
Best wishes.
- Hi everyone,
I believe I am in a similar boat to most of you. I am 35 year old female from Los Angeles. I got both doses of Pfizer vaccine on March 2021. My symptoms started about 5 months later, so not right away. I was pretty much fine until September. Since then, I have extreme lethargy, chest pressure and pain, difficulty taking deep breath and increased desire and awareness to take one, strange headaches and light headedness, extremely jittery at all times, very high anxiety, severe insomnia- I cannot sleep without medication at all for over 3 weeks now. Like many of you my symptoms keep evolving and no two days are the same. I have been to multiple doctors, ER multiple times and had a bunch of labs done. Doctors insist my symptoms are not from vaccine saying if they were I would have them immediately after injection. I am getting completely dismissed by conventional doctors. My blood work comes back semi normal but has some concerning elevations. There doesn’t seem to be an end to these symptoms. Can someone please suggest a doctor or medical professional I can speak to that may be able to help? Or perhaps advise if you took any medicine or supplements that helped a similar condition. I am desperate for some kind of answers and relied. Really appreciate any replies. Thank you all so much and I am so sorry for what you are all going through. I am right there with you.
Hi Lulu
Sorry to hear you have developed these symptoms. They sound very familiar to what so many of us on here are experiencing. They also sound very similar to Guillain Barre syndrome. Here is a very informative website. It may be beneficial to print out and highlight any similarities you read to your symptoms which you can present to a doctor for better diagnosis.
https://gaincharity.org.uk/faq/gbs-and-acute-associated-inflammatory-neuropathies/
GBS is known to cause breathing issues. Because it can effect the autonomic nervous system it can also cause anxiety, depression, jittery feelings etc. The good news is that you do get better from it but it can take a while. You probably caught a cold and it's triggered your immune system to go into overdrive and react this way. Remember with having already had vaccines earlier in the year your immune system has been through alot already.
After my first Pfizer I developed nearly all the symptoms you list and have seen 3 different doctors. One told me I have a mild variant of GBS. If you click on the search magnifying glass on the VeDa forum and put in Guillain Barre it should pull up all the posts mentioning it. There have been several others on here who have also been told they have it.
Stick to anti-inflammatory foods, keep off caffeine and fried stuff and incorporate turmeric into your diet.
I'm not a medical professional I'm just giving you a suggestion based on your symptoms sounding similar to mine. Remember GBS is not as scary as it sounds and people do recover from it. Although it is rare it seems to be happening to a few people after their covid vaccines. Because it is usually rare many health professionals don't see it very often and therefore are not considering it when people do start showing milder symptoms of it.
I hope it can help you get some answers.
Best wishes.
@sickofthis yes, the brain fog and disorientation started first and ended last unfortunately. I would say all in all it took about 5 months for me to return to mostly normal. During the last month I returned to work but was still dealing with some brain fog/disorientation when I would go outdoors. The days got fewer and farther in between until it eventually just stopped.
Did all your symptoms go away?
Hello has the tinnitus facebook page been shut down? Anyone knows?
I've just been doing my regular "light" reading into my post vax symptoms and more specifically into GBS when I found some helpful bullet points that I thought people could use when seeing their doctors to get the best from their appointment, especially as waiting times are so long when you finally get an appointment it makes sense to make it as productive as possible.
Here are the points I thought people may find helpful I've just copied and pasted it from a GBS site:
Preparing for your appointment
You may be referred to a doctor who specializes in disorders of the brain and nervous system (neurologist).
What you can do
- Write down your symptoms, including any that may seem unrelated to the reason why you scheduled the appointment.
- Make a list of all your medications, vitamins and supplements.
- Write down your key medical information, including other conditions.
- Write down key personal information, including any recent changes or stressors in your life.
- Write down questions to ask your doctor.
- Ask a relative or friend to accompany you, to help you remember what the doctor says.
Questions to ask your doctor
- What's the most likely cause of my symptoms?
- What kinds of tests do I need?
- What kind of treatments do I need?
- How soon do you expect my symptoms to improve with treatment?
- How fully do you expect I'll recover?
- How long will recovery take?
- Am I at risk of long-term complications?
In addition to the questions that you've prepared to ask your doctor, don't hesitate to ask other questions during your appointment.
What to expect from your doctor
Your doctor is likely to ask you a number of questions. Being ready to answer them may make time to go over points you want to spend more time on. You may be asked:
- What are your symptoms, and what parts of your body are affected?
- When did you first begin experiencing symptoms? Did they start suddenly or gradually?
- Do your symptoms seem to be spreading or getting worse?
- If you are experiencing weakness, does it affect one or both sides of your body?
- Have you had problems with bladder or bowel control?
- Have you had any problems with vision, breathing, chewing or swallowing?
- Have you recently had an infectious illness?
- Have you recently spent time in a forested area or traveled abroad?
- Have you recently had any medical procedures, including vaccinations
I like many of you had an intense reaction to the Pfizier vaccine, developing POTS and other symptoms. After, 6 months I recovered. I also have a recent history of breast cancer and scars in one of my lungs from the treatment. Now 10 months post vaccine and with Omicon and Delta surging, I'm concern about not being protected.
Question: Have any of you on this thread received the booster? If so, which vaccine was it, did you become symptomatic again or not and did you get pretreated with steriods or other meds beforehand to lesson the effects?
Basically, want to hear of anyone's experience in gettin a booster.
Thanks in advance to anyone that is willing to share.

that’s very interesting that your symptoms didn’t start until 5 months later. it’s only about a handful of posts i’ve seen where everything started extremely late for people. this is interesting.
there’s so much about all of this that doesn’t make any sense. there’s people with autoimmune diseases recovering faster, some people have everything for just two weeks. others years…none of this makes sense. 🤷🏾♀️
@medee and others who are have the hypnic jerks and brain zaps- I had them for about 2-3 weeks during the 2nd or 3rd month after the vaccine. Started with hypnic jerks when trying to fall asleep and then a week later started getting brain zaps. They can be very scary. All of this was at the height of vaccine induced anxiety phase. Thankfully the hypnic jerks and brain zaps went away on their own. I have heard of them in others and that they went away for them as well. Hang in there.
@sahmed Hang in there! I know it sucks because I've been through the same thing. It will get better and eventually you'll be back to yourself. It took me 8 months. I will say that while I know you're ecstatic to see a neurologist, they probably won't find much. I've had an MRI, CT Scan, visited the ENT and neurologist, and nobody seems to find anything (which is frustrating good news). So, keep your head up and if doctor's tell you everything looks fine, be thankful for that and know that time seems to be the one thing that heals!

Thank you for your response! I get this electric feeling near to my right ear always. Did you have it in the same place?
Also have the rest if your symptoms gone away completely? Did you have any relapse post it vanishing?

are brain zaps quick and sudden? i have electricity type feeling on the top of my head. it feels like it’s stuff crawling on my scalp sometimes. are those brain zaps?
or are brain zaps more so of a twitch/quivering sensation in your head? i have that also in the back of my head, it feels like muscles or my brain itself is quivering

Brain zaps are more to do with the electric feeling as far as I get it. I have it near to my right ear. That whole part has it constantly.
The other thing that you're talking about that you feel at the top of your head, I have that as well. Top to the back on my head slightly. That whole part. It feels heavy and weird kind of pain. Sometimes my brain nerves hurt. My scalp hurts too.
I don't know what is going on? Have you done any tests for your head? I wanted to but cannot since I have ear pain and tinnitus too post the jab. The MRI might just aggravate it due to the heavy noise it makes. So I haven't yet!

How long has it been since you recovered? Were there any flare-ups after recovery?
@tennyson77 He is actually a very good interviewer, and yes a fighter.
I just thought that interview might be important to see. You do not have to watch it
if it doesnt work for you.
