@codex-bulkhead-oakwood thank you for your report after the 2nd dose. It is reassuring to hear that the 2nd dose can have less / different side effects than the 1st dose. Hope you continue to do well!

@icepinkcat @thenystagmus

I have always been pretty sensitive to certain meds, too - mostly cold meds.

@leonarddee Glad to hear the effects were not bad on your 2nd shot. What date did you get shot #2?

@icepinkcat Same. A lifetime of medication sensitivity, med allergies, food allergies that seem to be getting worse as I get older.

@thenystagmus Hi, I too am sensitive to meds and I somehow predicted I would get side effects, I get them after the flu jab and when I had to have a steroid injection in my shoulder. Last night and this morning has been the worst for me, persistent dizziness. It's such a horrible feeling. Hope you feel well soon.

Hi Tabby, Because I generally have undesirable effects from meds I rarely do any medication interventions. Trusting my body to fight its' battles has worked for me the best, except when I used to have frequent sinus infections I would take antibiotic (but not Augmentin - horrible diarrhea with that!), but got past that some years back after my first year of working with elementary age children. I had moved across the country before that and was sick with URIs half the time the first year working with kids, then seemed to have aquired needed immunity to be well the majority of the time. I haven't gotten vaccinations prior to the Moderna in early March. Yesterday was a good day until evening; today not as good. I've been moving as much as I can; I may have overdone it? I'm really looking forward to starting vestibular rehab therapy, hoping to get some tailored input. Wishing better days for us all!

@thenystagmus. Hi Sassafras, thanks for the reply.  Yes, I am convinced that I had a mild case of covid 19 last spring and that it affected my vestibular system. It was the only time I was even mildly ill last year and 6-8weeks later is when I started with vertigo, vestibular migraines (could not tolerate any sound.) and brain fog. After 3 physicians in Florida that offered no help I finally found a great doctor and yes the vestibular therapy has been enormously helpful. I do hope you are able to find a program that will work well for the deficits you are experiencing.

I am very worried about getting the vaccine - for now- as I cannot even fathom going back to way I was when all of this started!  I will wait until further studies have been done on the vaccines and their side effects/adverse reactions.  I suspect in another year, Research will have a plethora of new data which will help them adjust and fine tune the vaccines so they do not cause further harm to people who may be susceptible to those outcomes.  My very best wishes to you in your recovery!!

Thank you for your kind response and the encouragement I have from hearing of your improvement! I do hope I can find knowledgeable help in my community.

One thing that puzzles and frustrates me is all the reports I'm reading of those of us being vaccinated and experiencing these effects, especially dizziness - but the vaccine manufacturers and those that have advisory oversight failing to update their lists to include it beyond the mention as a part of an immediate allergic response. I wonder - when 11 - 17% of those reporting have dizziness does that not at some point become considered a possible reaction? I hope that after so many are reporting these problems, especially as ongoing instead of fleeting, there will eventually be some acknowledgement and guidance given. Best wishes to you!

@atp223 Hi, I'll give it a try, thank you. I did mention it to the pharmacist today but he said it wouldn't help. It's easy to buy and anything is worth trying. I don't get vertigo just dizziness and headaches. I've had tinnitus a long time but it's worse since the jab. I also got some vitamin c tablets today to see if that helps.

So glad you are making good progress, it's very encouraging to hear.  Take care.

@thenystagmus it's interesting you mention your oversensitivity to medication your entire life. I have the same thing. I wonder if us super-sensitive folks are being most affected by vaccine side effects as well...

That's a possibility. I was doing some reading this morning about immunological responses to this new coronavirus and found it fascinating that there are specifically differing patterns of responses that they can see with blood tests and can correlate to severity of outcome for Covid-19 infection. An article I read was written earlier on in the pandemic and talked about this in relationship to the developing efforts to produce vaccines. It was a very technical article but I could glean from it that our bodies have differing responses to challenges from viruses and some of that has to do with what challenges we've had from exposure to other viruses in the past and the defenses we've mounted in response. This report said that some of these defenses seemed to be helpful when challenged by this new coronavirus and some of it seemed to be related to worse outcomes and some of it really was not expected or understood. My take-away was that there is very much that remains to be learned and there are some that are trying to. I have seen that there are new studies starting for response to Covid vaccination of those with known allergic reactions to other things.

BTW, did anyone see the Johnson and Johnson shot got pulled in North Carolina for causing dizziness episodes?

I heard about that last night.  Was going to mention it here, but you already have.

Yesterday I saw an article saying investigation was going on of "expected" dizziness and nausea issues that had resulted in pauses of J&J vaccination in some locations in 4 states in the US. Some were given water or juice and released and a few were sent to the hospital.

@michaelk how are you feeling now?

My husband and I got first vaccine on 23rd March (Pfizer) and he started feeling dizziness ( vertigo) from this week and is freaking out cause he never had any issues ever before.

He has been to neurologist and primary care doctor and we don't know the cause yet. We have been asked to run multiple tests.

Did anyone who had this symptom recover ? when did you guys start feeling normal?

@thenystagmus Hi, yes it's an occupational hazard working in that environment, I know only too well.

Sorry you've had a bad day. I find this vaccine side effect/reaction, whatever it is, can change daily. One day I can feel reasonably good, which leads me into a false sense of security, that's when I overdo things. The next day it floors me again. Good luck with your vestibular rehab. Apologies if there are any errors, battling here with predicted text.

Hi Kris, I've had a similar reaction. Slightly sore arm after 1st Moderna vaccine so I thought if this is it I'm home free till the second when I was sick with a severe head and neck ache, 102 fever, body aches and chills. I was so miserable I couldn't even sleep it off. Ok I thought, I can gut through 2 days of anything just wish I had gotten the memo that probably should have taken PTO the day after the second vaccine. Then after day 3 until day 9 I felt like my body was supercharged, with tons of energy. I felt amazing. I joked with people that my body still thought the virus was present so my immune system was going crazy. The only side effect I had was a huge sore lump/lymph node, about the size of a large marble, in my arm pit of the same arm where I got the shot. Then day 10 came and it was one of the scariest experiences with my body I have ever had...it wasn't gradual, it was like this huge wave of dizziness came over me walking into work. I struggled to think or concentrate and I could barely walk straight. I was walking down the hall and my body literally veered into the wall. My blood pressure was elevated, and my doctor commented about my rapid heart rate, I'm guessing most likely because of the fight or flight mode I was in with the way I was feeling but who knows. After a few days I went on prednisone and things got a little better either because of or perhaps in spite of the steroid. I also developed tinnitus which is so annoying. For about two weeks it was pretty rough and my doctor didn't know what was causing it..talked about an MRI $$$$. Now two months later it's either a bit better or I have learned to adapt but I'm concerned it's permanent. It comes and goes in waves and visual stimuli like scrolling on my computer at work exacerbate it. I feel like I have become a Covid vaccine long-hauler. I know several other people, including my sister that this has happened to after the vaccine so I am wondering if this is a triggered response in susceptible people. I've heard talk of a Covid booster in our future and this terrifies me. Especially if the vaccine is mandated for work and travel.

That scares me too. I am almost 8 weeks from dose #1 of Moderna (and only dose #1) and I still have dizziness and tinnitus. How can they expect people with significant reactions to get dose #2 or boosters? I got super sick on dose #1 with every symptom on their symptom list. Every single one. Super sick. Plus lasting dizziness and vertigo. Did a VAERS. Contacted Moderna. It's like they don't want to see us. This is super isolating and messed up.

@itsjustme

I had to make my own report too and put down my doctor's name.

NO ONE wants COVID and I definitely don't feel protected without at least one dose but heck - long-term disability from a vaccine ain't great either. Will COVID ever go away? It's a nightmare!

@jketcham

There is a facebook site dealing with tinnitus after COVID19 vaccine.
