Individuals age 70 ½ and older must take Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) from their IRA each year. Did you know that you can donate up to $100,000/year from your IRA to a charitable organization tax-free? A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) is a direct contribution to VeDA from your IRA, which can satisfy the RMD without having to report additional income on your personal tax return.

Everyone’s tax situation is different. If you are considering a charitable contribution to VeDA from your IRA, we recommend consulting a tax advisor to see if it is right for you.

How do I make a QCD donation to VeDA? Contact your IRA custodian (e.g. Fidelity or Charles Schwab) and request an electronic transfer or check be made out to the Vestibular Disorders Association (tax ID: 93-0914340). You can support VeDA with your purchases. Collect VeDA's custom merchandise, including shirts and hats with Fiona Flamingo, or shop our Amazon Storefront. When you buy products from select VeDA partners a portion of your proceeds will be donated to VeDA.

Hosting a fundraiser for VeDA can have an amazing impact because it increases awareness as well raising funds! One way to do this is to start a Facebook fundraiser. Ask your friends and family to make a donation to VeDA in lieu of sending you a birthday gift. Host a dinner party. Sell baked goods at work and donate the proceeds. Get creative!

Or create a personal campaign page for Steps-2-Balance or Balance Awareness Week and join the vestibular community in raising awareness and funds to continue this important work.

What is ACH giving?

ACH stands for Automated Clearing House. It is a secure electronic bank-to-bank transfer that allows you to donate directly from your checking or savings account rather than a credit or debit card.

Why give by ACH instead of credit card?

ACH is simple, dependable, and efficient. It is especially helpful for recurring giving, since bank account information does not expire the way credit cards do.

Also, ACH gifts usually come with lower processing fees than credit card donations, which means more of your gift goes directly to the vestibular community. 

Is ACH secure?

Yes. ACH payments use secure banking networks that financial institutions rely on every day. Your information is processed through secure systems and handled according to established security standards.

How do I sign up?

Signing up is quick and straightforward.

Can I make a one-time gift?

Yes. You can choose to make a single ACH donation if you prefer to give once rather than set up an ongoing contribution.

Can I set up recurring ACH donations?

Yes. ACH is a great option for monthly giving.

Recurring donations are processed automatically on the schedule you select, making it an easy way to provide ongoing support without needing to re-enter your information each time.

When will my donation be processed?

Most ACH donations are processed within 1 to 3 business days.

For recurring gifts, your donation will usually be withdrawn on the same date each month based on the schedule you selected when you signed up.

Will I receive a receipt?

Yes. You will receive a confirmation of your donation for your records. You will also receive an annual donation summary for tax purposes.

Can I change or cancel my ACH donation?

Absolutely. By logging in to VeDA’s secure portal, you can update your gift amount, change your bank account information, or cancel a recurring donation. Simply login and click “Donations” in the sidebar.
