@dgingoglia hi Donna - my worst point was at 5.5 weeks after symptoms started (8 weeks after Pfizer dose #2).  At that point, the tingling/pricking had moved from legs to arms to full body.  It was like my forearms felt they had 100pounds weight on them (for many hours at at time) but the worked perfectly (except a few twitching muscles).

Today I am at 6.5 weeks of symptoms (9 weeks after 2nd Pfizer shot)….the arm weight/pressure has lessened significantly, but I just had a week of shortness of breath (from doing nothing), increased heart rate and higher pulse rate which sent me back to the ER for 3rd time). Seems to be settling down.  Still full body pins/needles that keeps changing location but less intense and often more like a nerve flushing sensation more than tingling.  My newest sensation at 6 weeks post start of symptoms (8.5 weeks after Pfizer shot #2) is a hand/foot cramping sensation..it is concerning to me as it is on the cusp of pain….if it doesn’t get worse then I would say the worst for me was at 5.5 weeks of symptoms.  MRI and EMG next week with neurologist…who does think it’s the vaccine but must rule out 2 other things.  25 bikes of blood taken - perfect.  EKG- perfect.  I paid for the cov-2 antibody panel  blood test (negative for covid infection in past, sky hight antibody levels “spike quant total antibodies”).  Also did COVID test - negative

I had my second EMG test done at UPENN in Philadelphia yesterday.  The results were encouraging, no nerve damage.  I was worried that this might cause permanent damage but it has not.  I have been feeling better recently now that I know this was from the vaccine and I don’t have some horrific disease.  My tingling is not gone but seems to be subsiding a lot.  It’s been around 4 months since my first symptoms occurred.  I still have some twitching but that seems to be getting a little better as well.  I hope this makes someone else feel better that their is light at the end of the tunnel.

@chrish this has massively helped me. I'm yet to see a neurologist. There's long waits for tests etc in the UK and I've convinced myself I have inflammation and nerve damage what with the twitching, the pulsing sensations, vertigo..  even stomach issues. I feel like every part of my body is somewhat affected!! I'm 12 weeks post 1st and only jab so to read your comment is encouraging thank you for for update. X

Anyone else feel like they started to feel worse around week 4-5?  Lately I’m feeling more burning and just an all around yuck feeling. Worn out. Haven’t gone for blood or MRI tests yet. Have orders but haven’t felt up to going.

For me around week 4-5 after 2nd pfizer was definitely the worst! I had all range of symptoms and felt overall unwell. But that was also the week when I had the head mri which made me very anxious, so maybe anxiety and poor sleep added to that too. Now I am finishing week 6. In terms of paresthesia things improved lately for me. But I still feel nauseous and/or dizzy every other day. I force myself to stay active and I also take all the rest I need. The worst days are definitely after nights of poor sleep because of insomnia, which I have regularly because I am worried about my health.

@stela it’s such a vicious cycle that we are stuck in.

@chrish Thanks so much for posting this. Very encouraging. I have my first EMG in four days and I'm hoping my results are similar to yours!

7 days after moderna i got a pain under armpit i suspect was lymph node swelling. It's been 12 days it's still there.

Now yesterday i took a zeradol for the pain and half an hour later my right hand got numb, all fingers except for wedding and pinky.

Today it feels much better but the very end of my index finger is numb. I also had a friend whose sister took AstraZen* vaccine and by 1 week her entire lower body was crippled, by half day later she could move, then she got numb, she flew out to the USA for treatment. Nothing is being done to her yet as she could walk but still have pins/needles and numbness. Her pre diagnoses is vaccine induced GBS. They are running tests on her now.

As for me my arm pit pain is subsiding and the numbness in the index finger isn't so bad. It's exactly at the tip of the finger.

A google search on GBS suggests that on average it peaks in severity in about 4 weeks then gets better from there.

@dgingoglia Just like you my symptoms are worse at night. Is it the burning sensation that is worst? And then I feel sick all day because I am so tired and worried. It has been 4 weeks since my first pfizer and my first symptom (buzz/vibration in my lower leg) started on day 10. That has subsided a bit but the burning skin sensation in my feet, legs, arms and face is ruining my life. My doctor doesn't believe it could be a reaction even though I am almost positive. I am so grateful for this forum. I would be so alone otherwise.

It’s been 5 weeks since i started with numbness and tingling, it has since then subsided.  But now I’m experiencing these random pains. Everyday it’s a new pain, either back, arms, legs or shoulders, not to mention the neck pain! It’s intense!
My hands still feel somewhat numb but not as much as when it first appeared. I hope we all get through and over this, bc this honestly triggers my anxiety

Hi all,

DISCLAIMER: I am not a doctor, none of this is to be construed as medical advice. I am just a long time sufferer of this condition, hoping to offer my insights.

I received my 2nd dose of Moderna vaccine about 7 days ago. I am having intermittent shooting pains, tingling and numbness in various areas of my extremities.

I have had this happen to me before fairly regularly and it manifested itself in a variety of ways. I believe the condition is called Benign Fasciculation Syndrome (fasciculation is the title but it can also manifest as pain, tingling, vibrations). It falls under the umbrella of Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Mild POTS, ME spectrum of conditions.
https://www.aboutbfs.com/

There are many ideas as to what causes but many believe it to be related to an aberrant immune response that inflames/activates the c-fibers of nerves.

The good news:
In the overwhelming majority of cases, it doesn't seem to affect the large fiber nerves or motor nerves.
In my personal experience and based on my research, it generally doesn't progress (although I've never had an mRNA vaccine until now so I'm in new territory here)
There will be periods of relief.

The bad news:
It can sometimes relapse after a long of period inactivity. The triggers I've found are infections, allergies, fatigue, weather changes (i know, very weird) and severe emotional stress.
It can manifest itself in different ways. What was once a tingling in your foot can go away and come back as shooting pains in your thigh making you feel crazy every time.

Red Flags that should be brought to your medical provider's attention:
1) Weakness
2) Progressive symptoms. ie (unrelenting numbness that is progressing along a dermatome)
3) Debilitating pain

My plan of action:
- Rule out the big stuff (Gullain Barre, CIDP, etc)
- Mediation / Relaxation - I know this sounds very wooo wooo goofy but several types of immune cells respond directly to activity and emotional stress (examples neutrophils, lymphocytes)
- Stay active within my capacity.
- Don't obsess! I used to constantly symptom check, Google, etc. The bottom line is I have absolutely no control over what is happening to me right now.
- Believe I will get better!

My wife is also experiencing chronic side effects unrelated to the theme of this thread. I resent that I was pressured to get this shot and the fact that many of these side effects will be bucketed as "no evidence that this is related to the shot" or "coincidental".

I hope this helps someone.

-R

@jpgdubgmail-com This is so encouraging to read. I'm having another despairing night where all I can focus on the pain and everything I can't do... and how I feel like I've been removed from my own life. So I'm really holding on to hope. I'm on week 6 and the pain is as bad as ever honestly. But maybe in a few more weeks or months I will be feeling a bit better like some of you. 🙂 Very happy to read that you're feeling some real progress.
