I did see a neurologist who said it is a form of GBS, but I still haven’t received treatment.  For me, the worst is the insomnia.  I really have been trying to avoid sleep meds.  I tried a couple of Zzzquil recently which gave me a few hours, but messed up my heart rate.  My heart rate has been elevated since the shot.  Zzzquil made it go even higher.

I’m 12 weeks out.  Nerve issues do seem better at times, but then will flare up, such as burning sensation in arms, needle sensations in arms and legs, random muscle twitches which is from nerve damage or nerves healing.  Hopefully this will pass in the weeks to come.

I hope you are well.

Thank you for the reply Richard thats good to hear. I have my second dose booked for 2 weeks from now.
How are you feeling now since taking the second dose? still all the same?

Im a little nervous but think I should be fine.

For everyone else on here, my symptoms have already gotten alot better. I have had a couple days with barely any tingling, and basically the only symptom I have is a mild burning sensation in my skin.
I have noticed when I drink alcohol the tingling seems to get worse, so as many on here have suggested its probably an inflammation of the CNS causing this.
Another thing to note, guys, its honestly best if you try not to over think this. I have absolutely no doubt that obssesing over it makes the symptoms feel worse.

Try and relax and it will ease.
Good luck all 🙂

Hi Luke - yeah my symptoms are about the same - I kept a diary of how I was feeling and the burning/tingling seems to ease by about week 6 or 7 after the 1st does - I dont think they have changed much since that 6 week mark even following the 2nd dose which was 16 days ago. A couple of things you mention ring very true - the alcohol for one - I only drink on a Sat night and only have on average about 8 standard drinks and every Sun morning my hands and feet are tingling twice as bad. I think it’s actually more the affected sleep than the alcohol though as I sleep badly after drinking - but I like a drinking night once a week so catch 22 there. I thought maybe it might be affected by increased body temp too but I walk and cycle a lot and the exercise doesn’t seem to change the tingling. The other thing is not overthinking it - I think I feel better after my tests were all clear and now I’m just waiting it out to see if the tingling eventually goes.

@johnnyc thanks for sharing about the GBS. I have been struggling with similar symptoms, including the elevated heart rate, for almost 16 weeks now after one shot of Moderna. The insomnia actually improved around week 14, so I hope yours does too soon. I had a brain MRI today so will await results. Did you have imaging done?

I had the second moderna shot 8 weeks ago and on Monday I became itchy all over my body. The next two days I had pins and needles all over my body. The following days I have muscle pain and my lower back bone feels cold. I have insomnia and my heart pounds when I’m about to fall asleep. I jump up scared.

I never had any sleep problems before or any of this. I had blood tests done on Monday and have been waiting on results. I’m terrified as I have two children to raise and have all these symptoms doctors seem to dismiss me about.

A friend of mine who is a doctor told me that Emory University is going to publish many studies on this happening after getting the covid vaccine. She has gone through the same experience and looked for answers. As she is a doctor she was able to find out more than we could.

As of right now I’m waiting on blood test results and am very scared as I have two toddlers to raise. I’m terrified of being disabled or dying. I wasn’t going to get the vaccine out of fear my autoimmune disease would act up but my family convinced me to do so.

Has anyone fully recovered from these symptoms?

About 2 weeks after getting the first Moderna, I started getting a slightly painful pressure on my heart.  Went to the ER and they did 4 different tests that all came back clean.  My Dr told me he's seen this before and prescribed a different allergy medicine, which totally eliminated the heart pain.

A few weeks later I started feeling little random pricks on mainly my lower body, but some on my arms and hands.

At this point, the tinglies have also started feeling like a weird pressure as well, occasionally itching.  I've been taking a vitamin B complex and it helps a lot, I highly recommend it.

Anyone else paranoid they're having a herpes outbreak?

Ps, I've also been taking Xzyal for the past few weeks.  One of the side effects is tingling around the lips, which is currently happening. So I don't know if it's cause the shot or the Xzyal, or herpes?  gee whiz

Did you see a neurologist? Do any tests?

How long has it been since you took the jab? Did you have any other symptoms that subsided?

@medee hi dee, i had the 1st pfizer jab in end Jul. 16 days post jab, all of the sudden i had a terrible pain in the whole head, was hospitalised and MRI brain result normal. Dr said is tensuon pain. I went ahead with the 2nd jab in Aug, and 10 days post jab, the pain spread to all over the body all the way down to my toe with pins and needle here and there. Then my left hand numb and then spread to all parts of my body, including numbness in the head, face, lips, tongue inside of the ear.

Then start to have ear ringing on and off...yesterday the left eye vision went blur but 2, 3 hrs later it came back to normal. And once a while, blur again.

I am 2 mrh into this, none of the symptoms disappear.

Neurology did nerve test - normal, brain scan again - normal. Bit blood test shows a slight antinuclear antibody which suggest an auto immune disorder. Being referred to rhemutology - further blood test result nor out.

Is veey frustration, i am in burming pain, numbness and legs are so heavy that i have problem walking- and yet dr said is all in the head and refer to psycharistic .

@floryeo hi, interested in knowing which particular test showed as positive as one of mine has shown positive. Hope we get better real soon. I had my second jab on august 19th but suffering since few days after 1st jab. Different symptoms to you though. But just curious as to which of your blood result is affected. Thanks.

@medee I really do think that staying calm, positive and distracting yourself from these feelings and also the thoughts about them really helps. I had a few bad days where it all seemed to flare up but I was overthinking everything and panicking that Im going to have some serious health issues etc as a result . Then I spoke to my Dr who was quite reassuring. She said all vaccines can cause nerve flare ups but these covid ones are a lot stronger and generate a stronger immune response. She also said nerve pain generally always goes away with time, some people may just take longer than others. It's now just a case of either trying out different meds that will ease the symptoms, or just riding it out till our bodies naturally settle everything down. Since I had the talk with my Dr my symptoms are still there but i notice them a lot less and I'm focusing on other stuff. Some days I don't notice them much at all and I can see certain body parts which used to have nerve pain have now gotten better. So I definitely believe we should all try to minimise our anxiety about this as much as we can.

I didnt have ear pain but I did experience some tinnitus type symptoms a few times but they were very mild and passed quickly.

My neuro prescribed me gabapentin as well and I took it for a few days but felt spaced out and not myself so I stopped it.

I think the best bet is to just keep believing that your body is healing and this will all go away soon!

Did you have a weird feeing in your head as well and ny sort of muscle weakness too?

I see that you've mentioned about your Dr and then Neuro. Just wanted to know if the nerve flare-up was said by the General Practitioner or the Neuro. If this is coming from the Neuro then it sounds like some relieving information.

Also did your Neuro do any tests on you?

Pls do use the QUOTE option while responding. You take care!

Hi Dee, I didn't have any head pain, but I did have twitches in muscles (even on my lip a few times) but mainly in limbs and fingers and toes.

My Dr and neuro both said its nerve flare up. At my last neuro appt she said that she has seen many patients with this and they have all resolved. She said if it was anything sinister it would have shown up on the nerve test she did on me and the physical exam. And also it's getting better not worse. She definitely doesn't think it's something like GBS.

I'm now 4 weeks post second vax. My symptoms have decreased almost to the point of being gone. Some days I feel a minor twinge or muscle twitch but it's nowhere near as bad as it was a few weeks ago. I've just been staying positive, not thinking about it hardly at all, taking vitamins, exercising etc. I don't plan to go back to my neuro and I don't see anything else coming out of it but she was quite reassuring about everything and that it's nothing to worry about. She also said to stay away from reading things online and self diagnosing as it causes a lot of stress and anxiety which I agree with!

Have your symptoms improved?

Yr is which one? Please let me know, then i can suggest dr to test.

I think all these symptoms got to do with the immune system - some sort of auto immune disorder particulaly the nerve.

I googled, 2 autoimmune disorder related to nerve are:

1. GBS

2. CIDP - Chronic Inflammantory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy

Think we should all ask i dr the possibility and seek early treatment. Let's help another.
