Hi, I had my 2nd dose of Moderna - Nov 3, 2020

On boxing day I woke up to both arms numb tingling and burning. The pain in my upper arms shoulders and sometimes right side back is driving me crazy. I have been to the hospital and had numerous blood tests etc. I have an appt in Feb for neurologist. I have not seen my own doctor and only had a phone appt. I have had my eyes tested but no MRI. The opthamoligist asked if I had had an MRI and was surprised when I told her no.

My doctor said last week that he would call for rapid neuro. Still waiting. I have been off work for almost 3 weeks now and know I couldn't possibly do my job in this state. I am trying to stay calm as I found any stress exasperates my symptoms. I have been suffering with numerous headaches per day for weeks now. When I look back I was getting headaches and body aches immediately following my 2nd dose. I am frustrated, pissed off and feeling very ignored. My doctor still hasn't filled out my paperwork for my short term disability as he hasn't even been in his office.

@glenb Hi Glen, congratulations on Surviving, healing and recovering. do you have any plan for the booster? What have you been suggested to do? I guess I ask what your conclusion had been. It's not mandatory (for me) yet and I'm at the 6 month mark of symptoms. I am seeing improvements but I'm not where you are yet in healing. The booster is spoken about so much and to me it has been more stressful then actually the day-to-day symptoms, which seem for most to go away in time -  scared a booster with risk that. Thank you

@rosewThank you for your reply and telling me how it went for you. So sorry to hear how badly you've been affected. Doctors don't really care. If they cant fix it , they lose interest and send you on your way.

I really don't know what I'm going to do yet... 2 days before I have to decide. Part of me is thinking to take the gamble and maybe I wont get worse and my life will be normal and I'll be able to get a vaccine passport and be able to keep my job and  go to restaurants and bars again (and get my hair done and stay at a camping ground etc etc All requiring being double vaxxed.) Then there's the other part of me that imagines me with guillain barre syndrome or something like it and being fully disabled and suffering . Its so so hard.

@summer

The exact same thing is going on with me. The day after I received the Moderna shot, the tingling and numbers started the next day. 5 days later my eyes became blurry (eye floaters). I don’t think they are letting the public know the real side effects.

Hi,

So let's start with an update, which is I have not been any side-effects for several weeks anymore, and do not expect them to come back. A quick recap, I got my J&J-vaccine the 10th of november (2021), and had since been experiencing pins & needles / tingling / muscle spasms / contractions throughout my body until a few weeks ago.

For now this will be my last message, since I believe I am a 100% and well now, and since it will be my last on this issue I do want to share some thoughts concerning the vaccine and the treatment.

First of all, I have been reading about general practitioners advising to take a second dose, even if you have had (severe) side effects after the first one. I can't wrap my head around that. Especially after I have seen people coming back on this forum after following the advise, and messaging the side effects were back again or became more severe. I'm not a doctor, but a general practitioner is also not a scientist, especially not concerning vaccines which have not been thoroughly tested yet (in comparison to other vaccines). Most are also just trying to have as many people vaccinated, because they - as well as us - see this as possibly the best solution out there to get us out this pandemic. Understandably. But remember there is also a mandate which pushes this narrative that this is for the greater good (society), without much regards for the individual. So please think twice about getting another one after experiencing physical issues.

Second, and I have already wrote down a few times what I felt helped me out most. But to be clear I will share it again. Most important I felt was the supplement NAC - every 12 hours - for me (there's also many scientific research about NAC and COVID-19 and related vaccines about the effectiveness), technically the literature states that NAC works as spike protein neutralizers, preventing it from causing further damage to cells. But also Omega 3, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Zinc, vitamin B(12), C, D, Selenium, Magnesium were part of my supplement intake. I didn't drink any alcohol, this seemed to really worsen the side effects (tingling & muscle spasms). I also drank a maximum of 1 cup of coffee everyday, no more. Food wise: many greens (freshly cooked) added with some rice / couscous (or whatever), fish and no other meats. I also kept working out throughout, for about 5 days a week, between 1,5h - 3h per session. I understand that that's a bit much for some, but I would definitely try to keep your body moving every day and stay fit. It really feels like the vaccine is a huge shock to your immune-system, and you need to do everything you can to pretty much build that up again. (Again, I am nor a doctor or a scientist, this just feels like that for me). I didn't stop any of this, and will not for a few months.

Last, I wish all of you the best, both physically and mentally. I can't imagine how it must have been for others who have been experiencing these issues for longer. But from what I have been reading from some who have been coming back (including me) your body will most likely heal and you will be doing fine again. But since no body is identical, for some that will maybe take a bit more time than for others.

Best,

IMO it's a 50/50 chance on symptoms starting again after a booster. I just started getting runny nose and sneezing in the last few days , could it be covid or a cold ? I heard a doctor was concerned about people taking too many shots and that could screw up their immune system.

@jessm I have been trying to find someone with the same symptoms as me. I believe we are pretty close. I had my second shot on Oct 10th. Exactly 2 weeks later I noticed tingling in my hands and feet. Over the course of a week or so it started moving towards my whole body (legs, arms, face, even my tongue). When I wake up it feels like my teeth are numb. Then the insomnia started, it’s absolutely terrible. It’s like my brain won’t shut off and I wake up at the exact same time every single morning. I can’t sleep past 5am no matter what time I go to sleep. I wake up numerous times and I’m never tired. I feel like I’ve been on redbull since I got the shot.  I got 2 hours of sleep last night and I’m wide awake. I’ve tried everything and nothing works. This has been going on for 3 months. Also, every single morning I have to have a bowel movement. I get the urge and it won’t pass. I have to poop every. Single. Morning as soon as I wake up. This has been clockwork since I got the shot. On top of those symptoms over the course of 3 months I’ve developed back pain along my spine, burning back pain like frostbite, feeling of ice water being poured over my legs daily, cold burning pain in my feet, severe anxiety, internal vibration, muscle twitches everywhere. I even had tooth pain for a while. I don’t know if it’s electrical shocks through my spine or what but I get these jolts when I try to falls asleep and all night. I’ve had every test done under the sun. MRI’s of brain and spinal cord, blood work, lumbar puncture which revealed multiple oligloclonal bands which neuro wasn’t worried about and now most recently today I get a positive ANA. There’s something going on with us and we need to know what. I’m tired of these symptoms. I can say that things have improved from the beginning. I was in a dark place a couple of months ago. But the symptoms still linger.

@tashley yes, our experiences are very similar, and it seems as time goes on new symptoms pop up. My latest is blurry vision/watery eyes. Some days I feel like the other things are calming down and then they hit with full force again. Its so unpredictable and frustrating. I agree the insomnia is the worst, if we could sleep maybe we could deal with everything better. I have only just within the last few days been able to get some sleep. I think my mind not turning off is definitely due to anxiety because of all this. I lay there all night thinking about what could be wrong with me and even once I am asleep it's like my mind is still thinking. I read through everyone's posts on here and it gives me comfort thinking that like many others I will be ok but then my fear and anxiety kicks in and I think what if im different! What if I have something permanently wrong with me and symptoms get worse? My neurologist doesn't seem concerned but wants me to have a lumbar puncture to rule some more things out. Im sorry I cant offer you some more hope as im still experiencing all this. Im trying to stay positive but its really hard when these things happen all day everyday. Feel free to inbox me anytime, I think it makes things harder not having anyone to talk to because no one knows what we are going through. I pray that one day we will be able to say that we are 100% recovered.

I had my first Pfizer shot on 16/12/2021 and the only symptom I had was a little bit of tingling on my left face (shot was administered on my left arm).

6/01/2022 I received my second shot. I had no symptoms except for some nausea. Now, on 15/01/2022, I’ve woken up with tingling in my legs. It only happened in the morning and didn’t start again until that same night when I went to sleep. The next morning I woke up with tingling legs again but a few minutes later it was in my arms. Later in the day it started happening to my tongue.

I’m honestly so scared right now and can’t manage to stay positive. I’ve been heaving due to anxiety. Although reading all of your stories has made me calm, I’m so scared that it will never leave.

I’m only 23 years old and have never experienced anything like this before. I do have iron deficiency which I’ve stopped taking tablets for but I’m not sure if it’s related.

Hi. I am glad that I have come across this page. I got my first Pfizer vaccine September 2021, 8 weeks after the dose I started experiencing tingling/pins and needles in both my hands and feet. I went to my GP they did blood tests to rule out conditions such as low B12 levels and Diabetes - all bloods normal. A couple of weeks after these symptoms I began experiencing right sided facial numbness (intermittently, not there all the time) almost like an altered sensation to my nose, cheek and ear. I returned to my GP who couldn’t explain what was happening and told me to get back into contact with him if I started with any facial drooping or muscle weakness, which I haven’t. I got my second vaccine (hesitant) 8 days ago as my GP advised I should. The pins and needles seem to have settled but I’m still experiencing right sided facial numbness. I’m 25yr old, normally fit and healthy no medical conditions. It may be all coincidence but my only personal explanation is that all these symptoms occurred after having my vaccine. Is anybody else experiencing facial numbness?

6 months out from my only Pfizer jab and my pins and needles plus numbness are slowly subsiding. Hands barely anything there now just occasionally mild pins and needles in left hand (vaccine arm),  feet still tingling however much much better than how it was initially.

Horrible backache now gone.

Muscle spasms and twitching now gone.

Pins and needles and twitching in face gone.

Other symptoms Inc eye problems, headache tinnitus ongoing.

Have had lots of pins and needles flare ups along the way.
